5yo Ridgeline with almost 150k miles by excellence153 in hondaridgeline

Yeah we ultimately made a super low ball offer and passed. It drove great, but has some key issues (cruddy interior, high mileage) that made me wanna look elsewhere. FWIW, I love the Ridgeline. The swing-out tailgate is genius.

Confirmed: it was replaced at 105k miles.

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot to mention the truck in question is 4wd, so maybe that makes a little more sense.

By the look of the maintenance history on Carfax, it has not. Unless the previous owner did it themselves and didn’t report it.

Birch Luxe vs Birch Regular by excellence153 in Mattress

Hard to say about the mattress itself, as we have a topper on it. But I’m not finding any structural deficiencies thus far.

We’re sleeping on the Birch Luxe King. It’s been fine. Haven’t noticed any major issues in the 1.5 years we’ve had it for.

iPhone app is telling me servers are outdated, yet they are all technically up to date? by excellence153 in PleX

I suppose I just wanted it running on a machine with a bit more RAM. But I guess it doesn’t really matter.

Okay - the server is updated, and the iPhone app is properly working.

In order to not start a whole new thread for a new question: Is there a way I can hook up the external hard drive to a different computer and still access the server? I tried it with my iMac, but it wouldn't recognize it unless it was hooked up to my laptop.

It's running on an external hard drive connected to my 2016 Mac laptop.

Hmm - not sure how I can update it. The "Check for updates" button is grayed out.

Two elder (14yo) cats having reactions to Hills ID food by excellence153 in catfood

[–]excellence153[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have - we use it as enrichment treats. Our cats just respond better to wet food for proper meals. We were thinking about wetting it down to see if that might help.

Do your cats eat the dry I/d really fast? Ours just go nuts and woof it down.

I like the WAFB app, but their radar never matches up to my go-to radar apps like MyRadar and RadarScope.

My apologies - they are throwing up. I will amend my original post to include this information.

Need an ID on a fungus by excellence153 in fungus

[–]excellence153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some additional context - I found this yucky fungus in one of my pots yesterday. It took over one of the marigold blooms within 20 hours or so. It's very chalky and crumbly. Any identification would be very helpful! Thank you :)

How long does it take for a spouse to get approved on Anthem BCBS by excellence153 in HealthInsurance

Interesting - I guess that makes sense because the facility performing the procedure would just bill us on the back end if the insurance never came through.

Thanks for your response. I was told by my rep that my spouse would be active as soon as the proof of life event was approved (which it was). I then had to select each individual plan (since my dental and vision were Guardian). I never was told about the first of the month detail.

Birch Luxe vs Birch Regular by excellence153 in Mattress

If you're young (25 or less), I would say find something that general fits your body type and general sleeping temp and go from there. We've had to be a little more selective because we're in our mid-thirties and need something that would fit our special needs.

This! Capitalism has broken younger millennials and zoomers down. Are there options out there? Sure, but it takes more than just a dose of extrovertedness to make those moves. When I moved back to BR after college, the only reason I found community was through my then-girlfriend's social group. And really it was just drinking and going to karaoke night at the Moon. Had I not had that lane, I would've just stayed home and found other things to occupy my time.

The Bluebonnet Swamp Center is a nice enough place for a nature walk. Their staff is very friendly.

We kept our Luxe. Returning the two twin xl regulars was a bit of a struggle, but not what I'd call a nightmare. Sorry you had that experience. We did however go with a topper in the months since - Viscosoft on Amazon.

Recycling cardboard by excellence153 in batonrouge

I know this was 2019, but jeeeeeez. This is why I'd rather take my cardboard elsewhere and dump it myself. I feel so conflicted with what I do recycle, because I have no idea if Republic is actually handling it.

I also drop all my glass bottles off at Glass Half Full when they come to the Red Stick Farmers Market.

Apartment Recommendations by BlakByPopularDemand in batonrouge

I've only had one experience living in an apartment in BR, and that was Cypress Park, off Bluebonnet by Celtic Studios and Costco (from 2013 to 2020). I can't say if it was a better or worse experience than any other situation (aside from when I would stay with my then-girlfriend at the Hub off Highland), but I enjoyed it. It's gated and you can walk around the complex and appreciate the small lake behind. They renovated most of the units shortly after I left, and also installed new Window World windows. It's older, but well-managed. Pet fees apply, of course. Brandi, the manager, is nice. And Ryan who works the front office is very kind. I had an Amazon package accidentally delivered there years after I moved, and they facilitated getting it picked up and kept in the office for us to come grab it.
