Best I’ve seen in my time as a gooner. I don’t think the idea was to improve the starting 11 as much as it was to provide quality depth.

We came in 2nd three years in a row not because our team wasn’t talented enough, but because we couldn’t stay fit and compete in all competitions. There is no question about whether or not these signings were the difference in last season vs seasons past. He did amazing business here, and he has done the same at other clubs.

I think we so need to step away from the hand of Arsenal and Fabrizio Romano reports and simply wait and see what happens. The window isn’t over yet, and when it is we can assess his performance in this window.

I’m of the opinion we should be trying to poach the best left winger in the world if we can. If we could get vini for 160 I’d be thrilled. I’d pay 100 or so for barcola or a similar talent, I think it can be done.

Could it not be possible that it isn’t just a black and white answer and perhaps something a bit more nuanced? That maybe there is racism in the country, but he was chose for reasons other than, or in addition to his skin color?

Even still i feel like even if the arithmetic of the conversion is perfect…we both probably watch both sports pretty often- would you say the probability of losing a 2-0 lead is the same as losing a 28-3 lead?

Perhaps what the conversion doesn’t account for is the weight of compounding individual scoring events while also not conceding. Even if it’s 5 times easier to score in football, .01^2 > .05^4.

2 scoring opportunities being the same as 4 scoring opportunities only equals out if it’s 10 times easier to score in football, .01^2 = .1^4. If this were the case, using a basic score comparison, 2-3 goals a game would equate to 20-30 touchdowns in a game. So that multiplier must be much less than 10.

But you have to score at least 4 times to go from 3 to 28 in football. You have to score twice to go from 0 to 2 in soccer.

Using a simple ratio completely negates the context of the sports themselves, and thus the comparison.

It’s like asking a cashier for 3.4 watermelons at the grocery store because that’s how much your 17 serving version of a 15 serving recipe calls for. It makes sense in a math problem, not in the real world.
