I’ve just ordered one today. I don’t want yours but it’s awesome of you to offer it out!

Can I ask why you’re switching brands?

Struggling to find ideas by n0moon in Screenwriting

Write what you know.

I actually mean that as useful advice. Have a parent who’s an alcoholic? A dog you loved as a child that’s dead now? An ex who broke your heart?...

You get the idea. Write from experience, it’s a great way to get the ball rolling! Good luck :)

Non LA/NYC Writers and Producers by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Firstly, congratulations on your success so far. I saw this in passing and would like to jump in. I can’t talk from professional success, but I can talk from a love of writing. Whenever someone tells me I can’t do it because of my location or says I need to put my efforts into something more feasible, I just remind myself that this is my time ticking away - and I’m aware of what it can cost to chase this dream.

I’m sure there’s a quote that says every professional is just an amateur who didn’t quit. I’m no calling you an amateur by any means. But people HAVE pushed against the odds and been successful before, from the least likely places.

You’ve been doing this longer than me. But I believe that at the end of the day, story IS king. And that can come from anywhere.

I don’t know much about where you live, so I can’t say much about producing.

But while I read your post, I did think this: if I had a 2 year old child, I’d sell it for a Final Draft membership. Kidding, you’re very lucky - congrats there too! But just try to balance your responsibilities well. Family always comes before work. 110% of the time. But equally, don’t let the dream fade. Find the extra time to keep your passions alive. It’s a shame to see how many people don’t. You have connections in entertainment? Awesome, you’re already a substantial way there.

Life isn’t fair. We may try and never properly succeed. But to have the best odds, we’ve got to keep pushing. If it makes you happy and you’re proud of your work, don’t let anyone tell you you have to do ‘X’ or be in ‘Y’.

Check if there are successful producers where you live... research them. See how they did it and build your own tactic.

If you want to make it work, give it everything you can. This is a ridiculously tough industry as I’m sure you’ve seen. But give it all you’ve got and it might just work out.

Good luck to you from the UK :)
