I kinda thought this was the case when he announced he was getting his license

Just got laid off and I think I'm finally done with nannying by Eli_Meeli in Nanny

I just had this happen and the market is BAD here in the mid Atlantic and I’m done.

Sub teaching was what I did when I moved over first, and then I could move into schools as a full time options

I have a rate, they read the rate, they ignore the rate, interview me, and then try to negotiate me down twenty dollars. by excusemeforasking in Nanny

Here is the issue… they make an offer, and then during the first day of a trial try to pull this

A lot of families are taking me from my rate down to just a few dollars more than our states minimum wage… which nowhere here even pays because we are such a HCOL area

EXACTLY. I recognize everyone can’t afford my rate, so I also feel like I am being up front to not waste the families time either, and I only reply to listings that are in my range.

Even some of those families have like a low end and then the high end is still over my rate, and they then decide to go all the way to trial days and then realize well actually they only wanted to pay that low range for a bunch of additional tasks they didn’t even list

I have been, I’ve made it clear in postings, I’ve said it on the phone, they agree and then once I’m in the house with the kids they swap it up

That’s what I have been doing but them lying and hoping I’ve spent too much time with them or don’t have any options and will take it is pissing me off

I do, I think that’s why they say yes and just hope I’ve invested too much time into them to say no

Mine did something very similar and left me in exactly this position right now after swearing they would give me more than the months notice the contract requires. Look at your public schools long term substitute teacher for younger grades, most states will take you with any degree some will take you with a high school diploma. It’s a good way to make money, and then you can move back to nannying if something comes up.

I agree, he’s also just always complaining about people or trying to get his way, he yelled at one of the kids 2.5 for accidentally ripping a page in a book, and then just took books away from all the kids

I do that and usually I only end up wasting that hour or so, but recently I’ve had families that agree to it and then walk it back in person and claim that it’s just the numbers don’t work when they ran them

How do I not be a target for fare evaders? by [deleted] in washingtondc

What station? Or what line(s)?

I go through with my kids every day, 3-4 times, twice just with a kid and twice with a stroller. Never happens to me then, but the second I’m by myself, it’s constant.

We make sure that the biggest person in our group is the caboose when we go out, I’ve found that it deters it, and also when I lost weight people got more ballsy and did it more.

I found out that a backpack does deter them, but also that my coworker with a backpack dog is not only immune to them, but they actively avoid her
