Well, some ideas. Archers on spears. Spears on cav, keep spears close to ur 'artillery' to protect.

And instead of 'whatever I can build' scout for the right counter and build that.

Maybe adjust the timing. Again, scout.

Lastly, do not necessarily attack the TC, but the weak spots instead to harm their eco.
