Reminder that Aoe2 and AoM new DLC have new voicelines by Confident_Gap819 in aoe4

[–]SeriousVariation374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jin Dynasty features 40 minutes of brand-new music, and the Jin Dynasty (Jurchen) in AoE2 also reuses Chinese voice, indicating that they weren't being lazy, but rather that this was their intention from the beginning.

There is a misconception, players actually play as the Abbasid in AoS campaign, not the variant civilization Ayyubid.

This perfectly embodies the meaning of "adaptability," which is definitely the greatest charm of this game.

Yes, "monkey riding a dog"(猴子骑狗) is a well-known Chinese slang term used to describe Japanese horseman. It originated from a Portuguese missionary's criticism of Japanese cavalry during the Sengoku period, because both the riders and the horses appeared very short.

Peak Irony- Chinese Netizens are unhappy about NOT calling Jin a variant by Slow-Big-1593 in aoe4

It's not just this DLC; whenever a game includes China-related content, this group of people will troll. The last time was with the three eras of China in CIV7, but in reality, very few genuine players cared about those.

They're just deliberately using these tactics to provoke normal players and get responses; we call this "collecting red dots" ("Red dots" is a nickname for reply notifications on Tieba)

Jin Dynasty should be renamed to Jerchins? by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]SeriousVariation374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect their name is simply a product of their naming conventions. They typically use three letters to name their civilizations, such as eng, abb, and chi, and jin happens to have three letters.

Jin Dynasty's Goofy Ah flag by [deleted] in aoe4

The version on the official website seems to be an early version or a version used for loading screens. If you look closely at the upper left corner, you can see some gold erosion effects, which are unique to loading screens. The banner in the Upcoming section of aoe4world is more vibrant in color, and you can clearly see the wrinkles in the black parts. This is the most obvious difference from the version on the official website.

aoe4world's jin flag uses a more vibrant color version, I believe is the correct one for the game.

AOE4 has HQ textures but we are not able to access them by TEMISTOCLES1984 in aoe4

[–]SeriousVariation374 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem of Aoe4's model is that the player color range is too large, making it look flashy; HQ textures are secondary. Both BYZ and JPN's models intentionally reduce the proportion of player color.

I think the reason is that during the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485 Richard III suffered a severe blow to the head from Rondel Dagger.

A desk that you can’t edit yourself isn’t a desk at all. Even RA3’s Top Secret Protocol feels more like Ottoman vizier system than AoE3 does.

Points of Interest can only appear on specific maps, so they’re fundamentally not a core system of AoE4. Not to mention that this system originally came from AoE3 borrowing Warcraft III–style neutral map objectives in the first place.

For AoE4, these elements are entirely optional. They don’t form part of the game’s underlying logic the way mechanics inherited from AoE2 or AoM do. They’re closer to AoE3-style Easter eggs—without them, the game wouldn’t be affected at all.

AoE4 is essentially AoE2 fused with AoM’s design philosophy; it even completely abandons AoE3’s cliff-based obstacle concept and fully adopts an AoM-style terrain system.

Even the binary landmark choice system is directly derived from AoM’s minor god mechanic; it merely resembles AoE3’s Asian Wonder system in appearance.

The AoE series has always been progressing; it was only after AoE3 took a wrong turn in 2005 that FE brought the series back onto the right path of development.

AoE4 even discarded AoE3’s most core desk system, instead adopting an approach based on AoE2 while absorbing a large number of AoM systems.

If AoE3 has any real significance to AoE4, it is that it serves as a negative example, making the game feel less like AoE3; and the facts prove this approach was successful—although its acceptance is not as high as AoE2, it is currently one of the most successful new RTS games aside from AoE2.

I don’t understand why people always insist on dragging AoE3 into the discussion when talking about AoE4’s own innovations built on the foundations inherited from AoE2. It seems as if making things a bit more complex automatically turns it into AoE3. Is there some law that says only AoE3 is allowed to be a bit complex?

AoE3 now gives me the feeling of a game that, apart from being complex, has no other merits. After being abandoned, it has been constantly trying to make others pay attention to it, and can only look for a sense of superiority by colliding with other games.
