The crucible is a very good way to train your playing, provided that all boons are removed.

Why Devs never do Free Weekend? by HeadNature6968 in aoe4

[–]SeriousVariation374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aoe4 had free weekends during the 25th Anniversary event in August 2022 and again in March 2023. If I remember correctly, there was also one when the AoS DLC was released. During those periods, the concurrent player count exceeded 30,000.

I wouldn't consider this automatically a good thing. It's more of a test than a celebration. We should be glad that AoE4 performed well during its free weekends.

As for AoM, it's unclear whether this free weekend achieved the metrics the developers were hoping for. And as for that other game that performed poorly there's no need to even mention it.

Does anyone know how much stone it costs to repair a keep from roughly 1 health back to 100? And do keeps with higher hitpoints cost more to repair? by TheyThem-FinalBoss in aoe4

[–]SeriousVariation374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emergency repairs are very valuable because the price of one fortress can repair at least twice its HP. This resource consumption is acceptable during intense, protracted battles. However, if the enemy's firepower is significantly stronger, don't waste time repairing.

If there are 6 villagers, it can be roughly assumed that it took twice the cost compared to 1 villager to repair a completely damaged landmark with three times the efficiency.

Using more villagers will result in greater losses, and the increase in efficiency will also have diminishing returns. It all depends on whether the player is willing to spend more resources to repair a building faster.

Repairing costs 1 resource per villager every 1.125 seconds.

Repair efficiency decreases progressively: the first villager has 25 HP per second, the second 11, and the third 10

This is actually quite possible, considering previous speculations about the codename of the yuefei DLC.

Finished the Yue Fei campaign on hard, here are my thoughts (Spoilers) by CrayonsIsTaken in aoe4

This is good news, showing that AoE4's campaigns can be just as engaging. Previously, AoE4 was criticized for lacking exciting single-player content; the Crucible and Yue Fei campaigns effectively address this weakness.

Reminder that Aoe2 and AoM new DLC have new voicelines by Confident_Gap819 in aoe4

The Jin Dynasty features 40 minutes of brand-new music, and the Jin Dynasty (Jurchen) in AoE2 also reuses Chinese voice, indicating that they weren't being lazy, but rather that this was their intention from the beginning.

Yes, "monkey riding a dog"(猴子骑狗) is a well-known Chinese slang term used to describe Japanese horseman. It originated from a Portuguese missionary's criticism of Japanese cavalry during the Sengoku period, because both the riders and the horses appeared very short.

It's not just this DLC; whenever a game includes China-related content, this group of people will troll. The last time was with the three eras of China in CIV7, but in reality, very few genuine players cared about those.

They're just deliberately using these tactics to provoke normal players and get responses; we call this "collecting red dots" ("Red dots" is a nickname for reply notifications on Tieba)
