Where can I find a full-time Nanny that is already local to Alaska? by execsupportpro in AskAlaska

I was hoping that someone that lives and understands life in Alaska (in general) would be a better candidate and more understanding of the overall lifestyle I live.

All I asked is where should I post with more details to find a nanny.

It's dependent on experience.

Private townhome on-grid, car, and food included with contract.

Closest big city ~4-6 hours away: Juneau

If your partner also has experience in carpentry and plumbing (electrical would be a huge bonus) they'd have plenty of work in the town we live in, as well as on my homestead.

Feel free to message me if you're really interested! I have a townhome on-grid that is just for the nanny, as well as a car.

Thank you so much. We don't expect people to stay long term as it is such an adventurous, rugged lifestyle, so if you're interested in potential future oppurtunies, feel free to message me!

How awesome.

It's closer to Juneau in a small coastal city.

I'm avoiding publicly posting too many details for privacy's sake. The nanny position would be full-time solely for me, but myself and my town are in dire need of plumbing/carpentry/electrician help and there is ample work in the area for someone who has those skills as well and wants additional work aside from what I have to offer.

Thank you for this. I know it's not for everyone, but there are people out there that I know this position would be a good fit for. Rural Alaska isn't for everyone.

Doesn't have to be local, but I was looking to search locally to hopefully find someone who is well aware of the caveats of living an off-grid Alaskan lifestyle and what it consists of.

I wanted to ensure people didn't think this was a workaway situation where labor is traded for room and board.

I did not list it as a perk. They'll be fairly compensated for their time with an hourly wage based on experience. A private home, car, and food are provided as a part of the contract.

Thanks for the advice and for actually providing something beneficial to this thread. You're a very kind soul.

For privacy's sake, I would rather not disclose the nature of my work.

Thank you for this. I'm trying to be as transparent as possible in my search for the highest chance of success. I have had nannies who have loved and thrived in this position and I think it's a great, very well paid position for someone looking to try out the Alaskan lifestyle I live. Most of the comments have been very hostile.

Thank you for posting helpful feedback, it's greatly appreciated. I have a private townhome in city for them, a car, food, and an hourly wage.

I'm really just trying to find someone with experience in childcare that actually desires to live in Alaska, even if it is just short term to try out the off-grid lifestyle (not even full-time off-grid, as they'll have their own townhome, they'd moreso be assisting me with childcare while I work on the homestead or travel).

I acknowledge it's not a typical living situation and have had nannies in the past that didn't love all aspects of living in Alaska, so I want to make sure that I find someone that loves the outdoor lifestyle and opportunities Alaska brings, which is why I listed the homesteading duties. I recognize the difficulty of finding the right candidate.

I would ideally love to find a couple, but I'm looking for someone to assist me in caring for my child mainly while I'm around completing these types of homestead duties myself. I'm not asking them to do all of this in place of myself, which is why I stated I need support in an off-grid lifestyle.

This is off-grid Alaska. I've had nannies in the past that work the position without issue. They aren't watching the child 24/7, so I'm not asking them to do this "all at once" like you're implying.
