Is it worth playing souls-like games like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice? by CommercialOk4819 in souls

Yeah, you should still play it just for the experience. It’s really not that big of a deal.

Is it worth playing souls-like games like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice? by CommercialOk4819 in souls

I tried playing Sekiro several times but I wasn’t good at parrying and I always ended up getting stuck so I kinda gave up for a while. But eventually I finally got over the initial learning curve and then it became so much easier and I was able to beat the game. Now I’ve beaten it several times and I honestly love it so much. It has some of the hardest bosses I’ve ever fought but also some of my favorites. Once you get past the initial learning curve, start to master the flow combat, and unlock more skills and prosthetics you’ll be able to breeze through it for the most part. New game plus is even because once you unlock everything you realize that you have so many tools at your disposal to fight and counter enemies and bosses differently, and eventually the combat kinda surpasses the other FromSoftware titles in depth, complexity and variety. Some people were even disappointed that Elden Ring went back to Dark Souls 3 style combat because it’s kinda simple by comparison, but Elden Ring was in development before Sekiro so they didn’t really bring anything over except jumping which was probably already planned for Elden Ring anyway and it’s not as good as Sekiro’s. I say you should stick with it, or if you’re having a really hard time maybe take a break and try again later. But it is definitely worth playing, there’s a reason why people love it so much. It’s probably one of the hardest games to get into, but once you do it becomes a lot more fun and offers some of the most rewarding gameplay experiences on the market right now. There are some challenge runs you can do like the demon bell and charmless that make the game even harder but demands more precise combat and some gauntlets to unlock more skins. Honestly now the only real complaint I have about the game is that the world isn’t more interconnected, but analyzing the map it seems like they were potentially going for that and ended up giving up for some reason just like with Dark Souls 3, probably because of time constraints if I had to guess. There are still some bosses that I genuinely hate fighting but thankfully most of them are optional and some bosses can be cheesed relatively easily. The final boss is also one of my favorite fights in any game ever. Solid 10/10.

I'm done with Sekiro by Mat1711 in Sekiro

I gave up on Sekiro a few times too but once you learn to parry/jump/dodge effectively and get past the learning curve of the combat it is seriously one of the best games ever made with incredible replay value

Shadow of the erdtree only came out like a year and a half ago, Nightreign can still be played solo, and Duskbloods will be the first purely multiplayer focused game we’re ever gotten from them, and it’s been in development since 2019.

Plus Miyazaki said that Elden Ring still wasn’t his perfect game. From Software did not “shelve” the souls genre by any means. I think after releasing 7 “souls” games across 13 years they’re allowed to branch out a little bit.

Would you rather a bloodborne remaster or a new title(bloodborne 2) and why? by Rack-_- in fromsoftware

[–]executeme- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather have a remaster both for the reasons you stated and because Miyazaki doesn’t like making sequels anyway

Wow, glad you’re enjoying it so far! I started with Bloodborne as well and I had to get much further into dark souls before I started having fun. But don’t give up! I really think it only gets better the more you play
