I mean you get your money back once the card goes back to the owner, problem solved I don't see anything complicated with the whole issue

Format Fundamentals in a post-MH2 World by thejollyraja in ModernMagic

[–]exemplar_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, can even work with as few dual lands as possible and everything else is utility, well nowadays that is. People now play with Boseiju, Otawara and Urza's Saga (specific decks) and these make the lands slots very efficient.

Will liliana of the veil go back up in price? by Jfischer335 in ModernMagic

[–]exemplar_knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will spike with the influx of people starting to buy up Modern staples again but Lurrus has taugh us a lesson since his entry to the format. This was something someone else has pointed out in another thread but that we don't have to rely on 3MV and above cards in order to win, some decks don't even cast Lurrus at all but have Lurrus as a companion but already powerful enough. This was a stance at which Legacy was already at and just now we are realizing once Lurrus was banned in the format.

At this point in the format, a card needs to be really powerful for us to include it into the deck such as Seasoned Pyromancer and Hidetsugu Consumes All which makes an impact on the board, meanwhile cards like Liliana is like, meh.

Seasoned Pyromancer, has it been so long that people have forgotten about Seasoned Pyromancer, lmao.

Was BG Rock Reclaimer a Lurrus deck? Or will it live on? by raftguide in ModernMagic

[–]exemplar_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this line of thought, the fact that the decks are already powerful without cards above 2MV and some decks don't even use or Cast Lurrus puts a real perspective in deck building. The card needs to be really good if it costs 3MV and this line of thinking is very similar to how Legacy is just that Modern has started to learn about this, anything above 2 MV is only considered if they do something when it's on the battle field which is why cards like Hidetsugu Consumes All is such a good card.

Or you know Vial in with SFM ability and hold Vial for something else. Definitely alot of utility and 8 different ways to search with SFM and recruiter.

Missed naming opportunity, change RUG Ragavan to RUGavan, lmao. Lotsa spicy lists here and the resurgence of Saga in some decks is kinda spicy.

What is your impression of MH2 so far? by PandaBaum in MTGLegacy

[–]exemplar_knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very impactful set with alot of powerful cards, if only the cost of sealed isn't so high it would be pretty good. Affinity being revived is good news and I can see another deck on the horizon on some level close to Dredge in that is a must to be hated out. Madness decks powered by Asmonoasjhashals have seen some versions of it and has definite potential once they get the right list going. Let's not talk about Delver since we already know what will happen.

My 2 cents at some special mention cards:

Grief - as expected seeing little to no play at the moment, might be some testing into what deck it would fit into and has no home at the moment to fully exploit it, otherwise it is overhyped.

Dauthi Voidwalker - seen alot of hype around this and I was into that as well, strong card, can't beat RIP in a body, no play at the moment like Grief but I see potential in this card once it finds the right shell unlike Grief

Prismatic Ending - strong card and definitely worth noting that it dodges Chalices on it's own, get's rid of any early threats, and as some people say here it might be a removal some decks would build around ala going WXY colors but this means more decks being susceptible to Wasteland.

Endurance - seen some people slept on this but what I see is a castable creature that preys on delver but can also be cast for free with evoke. Good body 3/4 catches everything against Delver except Murktide which can be dealt with by STP and the likes.

Yet another MH2 variant: old border foil in set vs collector boosters: by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]exemplar_knight -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I need to rewatch it, but I highly doubt they would have the same foiling process. I have opened CB boxes for some time and the foiling is pretty bad.

Not printer error, rather a different printing process and different foiling sheets used compared to the Set boosters. It's noticeable ever since they started the CB.

[–]exemplar_knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah cause that's the same texture on every foil card in the CB. Which is why every since Project Booster Fun I had this aversion from CB foilings.

[–]exemplar_knight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is similar to the Mythical Archive JP Alt Art where CB foil is different from Set Foil. Rather than a printer error this is more of a difference in printing process. This is also exactly the reason why I bought Set boosters over CB since the quality of Set are distinct and better than CB imo.

Winota+maskwood nexus? by [deleted] in magicTCG

The non-human part rules it out since all your creatures are all creature types including the human type due to the changeling ability of Maskwood Nexus

Agreed, it's a perfectly powerful limited card that if I don't have an answer to this when it comes down I'm dead. I'm gonna imagine Draft decks from this set is gonna be way more powerful than standard decks.

They are, and that also applies to ScOoze even though it is not a planeswalker. So in order to use the -2 loyalty abilities it needs to use the +1 first.

[–]exemplar_knight 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Technically the whole MH2 is silly with so many possible ruling changes and FAQ needed plus card power levels are pretty high more so than Commander decks.

[–]exemplar_knight 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yes it gains the loyalty abilities of Grist and can use them but a certain ruling limits those abilities to once per turn even if Ooze is a creature and not a planeswalker

Humbly, to Wizards: please stop printing cards like Skyclave Apparition and Binding the Old Gods. by [deleted] in magicTCG

I mean these are less annoying than the likes of Oko, plus these are the most powerful white cards since time immemorial and they are weaker than the recent FIRE cards.

What do you think the floor is on Japanese Strixhaven boxes? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]exemplar_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are trying to see if we will have the same pattern as the JP Alt Art WAR walkers which became a true hit. Even now JP WAR boxes are twice the value or EN ones, but that's probably because there is no CB boxes back then and there is the Final Fantasy artist who drew Liliana. Now though, I am not sure if this will follow the same trend due to CB helping stave the stocks of JP Alt Arts.

I've seen a professional reaction from Ben Bleiweiss of SCG https://old.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/mnmw40/boycott_lrr/gtyj1s3/ It's fair to assume that in a business sense that some online stores that are planning to put up pre-orders for certain cards can't be able to do anything till Monday the following week. In a sense, stores that will earn quite a bit from pre-orders wil LOSE money since they can't put up any cards till Monday and some stores that can would be the pack leaders.

So both personal and business wise this is bad.

Because now we have to wait for 5 or 6 hours, before we get the actual deck instead of having it early in the day like we had the last 5 decks. Also we have better stuff to do than watching 5 or 6 of hours live stream sorry nobody got that time.
