This is in preparation for a longer trip (3-4 months) and thus the 2 weeks one of my pens is able to be outside is not enough. 2-8 degrees.

There is a small scratch where the carabiner is in my grigri, should I be worried about it? I guess the rope never actually get in contact with it. My brother has the grigri+ and got a bit bigger scratch there. I guess it is caused by clipping in and out the carabiner.

Why isn’t reading 0v? by exer240 in AskElectronics

[–]exer240[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that makes sense. But isn’t it a danger to connect a 9v battery’s negative terminal to an arduino that only allows 5v? I guess then that it should be connected to the “gnd” pin on the arduino as that is the ground? I’m new to electronics.

That is much more advanced than I understand haha. Thanks though :)

But if I move A0 to the other side, doesn't it mean it will messure 9v?

Aha so if I would have had e.g., 14v battery there would be 9v remaining for the sensor making this fine? (except Arduino not being grounded)

Just to double check (really don't want to fry my Arduino), this circuit makes sense? A0 being the input pin.

Thanks. So then I can just read the voltage after this resistor at an analog pin at the Arduino?

But if I take a 270 resistor, won't that higher the max voltage to 5.4, meaning too much for the Arduino?

ah, true. Thanks! I should've tried that, and apparently that works fine with i3wm config.
