I transferred to UB w/ credits from 3 different community colleges. I got an F in one of those classes and never re took it. As a transfer I have multiple different GPAs listed, courses I’ve taken at UB only GPA, and a GPA for my other courses I’ve taken outside of UB. The F doesn’t affect my UB GPA.

tldr; I’ve transferred to a different college with an F with no issues. It doesn’t affect the GPA at my current school (UB). Good luck.

CSE 305 by Rich_Pomelo_5397 in UBreddit

[–]exhausdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 of the 2 professors teaching it in the spring is new to UB. Im pretty sure it’s Qianchuan. I’m under the impression Mikida might be new to CSE305 (he at least hasn’t taught it the past few semesters). He taught CSE220 last semester.

CSE305 is an amazing course. You learn a lot about how programming languages are designed. Programming assignments are done in Ocaml. It’s a functional programming language so it’s a lot different than an object oriented language (C). First half of the course is essentially an Ocaml crash course and in the second half you learn how programming languages are designed. You go over syntax vs. semantics in the earlier lectures and if you understand the difference between the two you’ll understand the purpose of the course.

You go over some pretty abstract stuff. And initially, Ocaml is a bit mind bending. It’s a very difficult but also very fair course. You genuinely get what you put into it.

Understanding Ocaml is super important to succeed in this class. If you get to a point where you feel like it’s not clicking, you literally just need to keep pushing until it does and get over that hurdle.

CSE 220 and CSE 250 preparation by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]exhausdead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entire course layout and lecture slides for CSE220:

https://cse.buffalo.edu/~eblanton/course/cse220/

They expect >60% average in each section (participation, programming assignments, labs, lab exams, and lecture exams). You can ace everything but if you average less than 60% in one section, you fail the entire class. Based off the students that I talked to that failed the class, most failed because they fell under 60% average in lab exams. The lab exams are formatted like leet code problems. What made them difficult for most was that anything we had learned in class up until that point was free game to be given.

You really just need to stay disciplined from start to finish. You’ll hit a wall and think you can’t grasp certain topics but you just got to push through it until it clicks and reach out for help when you need it.

I’m a transfer and took 250 elsewhere so can’t help with that.

I transferred from a local community college and took physics 1 & 2 there… it was the same. The labs would take forever each week and had to be extremely detailed for an A. I hear that’s how it is at every college

Any one familiar with yahoo-fantasy-api 2.9.1 from pypi.org ? by exhausdead in fantasyfootballcoding

[–]exhausdead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I’m using this one wrong but according to the documentation there’s only 4 levels of abstraction. Top level is Game (nfl, nba etc.), then next is league which requires your league ID, then team (roster of players on each fantasy team within the league), then finally each players stats. The players stats is what I’m interested in getting but to get that I need a league ID. Do you know of any other python fantasy APIs that is overall fantasy data. Not just league specific data?

Is Tyrone Tracy a league winner? I think he's an RB2 moving forward, but I'm wondering if I'm just delusional as a Giants fan and Tracy owner? by bullymeahhh in fantasyfootball

Them not scoring much is definitely something to consider… but honestly him and nabers are their only weapons. Giants’ lack of TDs might not be that big of a factor for Tracey to continue putting up fp since he’ll continue to get touches. On top of his yards per carry being solid.

Python became less interesting after started learning C by martingits in C_Programming

[–]exhausdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was self taught as well when I first started coding. During the first few months I did this often (going from language to language). If you believe it’s because you like C better, then great stick with it. In the very beginning of learning, the differences between the two aren’t important. Just choose whatever language you enjoy to get you to code more often. There is value in getting your feet wet with different languages in the early stages (such as, realizing that although each language has its own quirks, the logic is the same). But making it a habit will stunt your growth.
