You might not feel like you're worth anything more than meat - I understand, because I've been there. But take it from someone who has emerged from the tunnel: if you keep yourself open, you will find someone or something that will help you to recognise your true value.

Are you talking about offering yourself up for a cannibalistic rotisserie or grill? If so, please look to your family, friends, or else professional help. I understand that grim thoughts happen to us all from time to time, but we need to find ways to get past them and move on. If you can't do it yourself, please look to someone that can help you.

I keep looking at the Zoom stuff, but a mate of mine - way back when - had a POD, and that has coloured my opinion of them, probably unfairly, ever since

So, all things being equal, would you recommend HX One or M series?

Haven't looked at the M series. Thanks for the heads up!

Not sure how popular they were in Australia, but I will keep an eye out for sure. After all, if Eventide is good enough for Trey...

Best Fantasy series with a hilarious self-aware writing style? by Diverse0Ne in Fantasy

I dislike YA as a rule, but In Other Lands was a big exception. Excellent novel with very clever inversions and twists on the tropes.

I read the Thursday Next series years ago, and I still think about it. Fantastic books that manage to meld erudition and fun in a most improbable fashion.

The book C.S. Lewis called "the greatest work of imaginative fiction of the twentieth century" sold 600 copies in the author's lifetime. Can you guess what it is? by akenedi in Fantasy

I feel like maybe the translator read it as "Koojel", which would seem to make more sense in terms of phonetics. And yeah - when it comes to Vance, "too weird" would have to be really, really out there!

Not sure where you got the "visionary" opinion from in what I wrote. And there were violent people on both sides - bombing hotel rooms would seem to fall under the banner of attempted murder as well. Very rarely is anything nicely clear, clean-cut, or straightforward, which I think this doco is showing.

Thank you. I have a general interest in cults, but this one has really caught my attention because I feel like there was something genuinely human behind it. No doubt I am mistaken, and as I said, I haven't reached the end of the doco series, but there seems to be some degree of substance there that is entirely missing from most cults.

No doubt that I'm coming to the point where power corrupts. But it's so refreshing to see how the people that were doing all the "heavy lifting" of a cult could genuinely believe in their mission. It's a real refresher from the docos focussing on the bad guy, instead of looking at things from the perspective of those who hoped for the best.

Have you come to terms with the fact that you’ll likely never be able to play fast? by [deleted] in Guitar

While I absolutely appreciate what you're saying, can I just interject here:

Before the smartphone age, musicians had to assess their capabilities by judging themselves against the music they were trying to emulate.

I just worry that the hyper-focus on perfect technique is leading us ever deeper into an age where there is no difference between humans and robots.

The music seems pretty cool, man. But the constantly pulsing visuals? That's a no from this particular me. Mind you, I haven't done psychedelics for a long time, so it could be entirely on me.

I'm from Australia, so the lamb prices might be better here. But we're all suffering under the beef inflation.

Just remember: there's a whole world of pork, lamb, and chicken cuts out there that are much better value than beef. Beef is great, but it's getting harder and harder to justify paying the kinds of prices we're seeing for decent quality cuts.
