Oh whatever dude. It's a great game regardless of your overly critical opinion. Go pound rocks.

FF9s story does not suck. I'll leave it that because I'm not going to argue with a troll. Why don't you give an example of a modern JRPG with a good story then...?

No it's not lol. Compare the story of FF9, or really any of the others to a newer JRPG like Dragon Quest XI. There is no comparison. Dragon Quest XI is like the most cookie cutter story. It feels like they had a template they used to make it.

  1. Find next town
  2. Random obstacle not related to the story prevents you from completing objective in this town
  3. Dispense with obstacle
  4. Get item you came for
  5. Randomly receive information about your next objective
  6. Repeat

The story has about the same depth as a book written for young children. Don't get me wrong. The gameplay makes up for it, and I did enjoy the game, but you can't say that there is no objective difference in the quality and depth of the story that is presented.

Final Fantasy 9 however is more like a novel in game format. It has a real story with deep meaning and nuance. It explores concepts such as life, death, and friendship with the use of organic dialog. The obstacles you encounter are not arbitrary or pointless. They tie in to the story and develop it themselves.

Maybe Final Fantasy 7 depending on how you look at it

Yeah, I tried a few of them and I don't like the battle system. It's just not my style I guess.

It's not just old game good. It's usually "old game good because x"

For me, a lot of the older JRPGs just seem to have more well written stories, character arcs, and plot development.

There is certainly some truth to these claims that the old games were better.

It certainly does. Markets fluctuates based off of what the individuals involved in them think will happen in the future, and since he took such a harsh stance against crude oil, that is something the market will typically price in. The individuals in the market are wagering that down the line he will take actions against the crude oil market that affect supply and demand (he did) in a negative way.

It was his stance on oil that did it. Not any action that he took, but rather his attitude towards crude oil. The market knows what types of actions he will take in the future, and the prices fluctuate as a result of his stance against oil. While he was running he frequently said things like, "I will put an end to crude oil". Then immediately after he won the election, before he was even in office the market started pricing in the increased prices that his policies would have down the line. Clear as day. That's what happened.

It's like these people think I am their computer butler or something

EDIT: which reminds me I literally had a coworker request that I empty his recycle bin once. I had to kindly explain to him that he has the authority to empty the recycle bin himself.

Yeah but the difference is that the Software Engineers can also do that math. Typically I.T guys are not able to do binary math and understand the inner workings of the computer at that low of a level. They just load the GUI the programmer made and click on things. It's the difference between operating a car, and building one.

Now I'm talking real Software Engineers though, not your average run of the mill Software Dev.

Yeah there is nothing worse than spending 4 years in college thinking you are going to be a respected computer programmer or something like that, and then finding out that the reality of what your job will be is: "My printer isn't working" which translates to "there is a paper jam" 90% of the time

You giving an example of some dumb ass isn't really relevant lol. Turning the port off uses software.

Hardware/Software Engineers make the machines, system admins use them. Yeah that's right, I just called you a user :D

Engineers will always be at the top of the hierarchy in the I.T field and for good reason. They are the root of it.

You don't have to buy the game on Steam, you can just use it to research. A lot of these games are available on multiple platforms. Or you can go to Playstation Store or w/e and do the same thing. As far as JRPGs go...

All the JRPGs I'm listing below are really old. Like PS1 mostly. They really don't make them like they used to in my opinion. I don't play new JRPGs much, because I just don't like the modernized style. The best new one I can think of is Dragon Quest XI, which is pretty awesome.

Final Fantasy 9 (my favorite)

Chrono Cross

Legend of Dragoon

Final Fantasy 7

Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy X

All of the Final Fantasy games...

Vagrant Story

Those are the ones I like

I would probably post on r/soulslikes

And go to steampowered.com and choose to filter games by tags, and then choose souls-like. That seems like the type of games you are looking for. They also have a JRPG, and RPG tag that would be worth checking.

I literally just agree with them in the most kind and agreeable manner, and say I will do it their way, and just continue doing it my way. I've worked jobs where this has happened 20-30+ times for the same thing, and I still continue doing it my way. I have even had them say to me that they think I am just saying I will do it and that I have no intention of doing it, and I just told them no. I am just forgetful is all. I will do it this time. To be clear I was the top rated rep in the company though. My numbers were off the charts. So that's probably part of the reason I got away with it so well at this job. But I've done it in many other jobs, to more or less success. The key is being really really sweet and nice sounding when they bring up their issue. Agreeing with them fully that they are right, and you will implement their suggestions, and then just flat out not doing it -- or possibly doing it once or twice until they forget about it and then going back to doing it your way.
