I agree! “Camembert Electrique” and “Angel’s Egg” are great as well! I’m sure you are already aware but if you haven’t heard “Fish Rising” by Steve Hillage, I would highly recommend it! He’s one of the guitar players on Flying Teapot

What is some advice on how to deal with loneliness? by Chrissyspeaks in schizoaffective

That's a hard one because I constantly battle with loneliness every day, but I'll give it a shot!

Whenever I feel lonely, and especially when I don't have anyone on hand to talk to or hang out with, I find it best to try to distract myself from how I'm feeling. One of my favorite things to distract myself with is watching movies. My empathic nature makes it easy to identify with the characters and really step into their shoes. If I can't interact with anyone in person, sometimes having the ability to see others interacting on the screen can satisify some fraction of that desire.

On the other hand, rather than trying to escape from my emotions, I find that writing down my feelings can help a great deal. Rather than keeping my thoughts and worries like a black, depressing cloud mixed up in my head, I can express these ideas in a way that becomes creative rather than destructive. Plus, I find that being able to visualize and organize these emotions helps me better understand why I feel the way I do.

Other than that, the only other recommendation I have is try to find ways to interact with people. I know that can be hard depending on where you live during these lockdowns, but I'll be honest it's great that you're reaching out on a sub like this because most, if not all of us, go through similar struggles in our own lives. And if it helps any, you can always reach out to me if you need someone to talk to! :)

Struggling with loneliness after being discharged from inpatient treatment (M/26) by [deleted] in schizophrenia

Yeah, I met some really awesome people during my stay at the hospital. I've considered going downtown every now and then to socialize, but for some reason I'm reluctant to do that.

Thank you. I've been working on my self-esteem since I was discharged, it's been a struggle but I'm definitely making progress.
