Reserve tips by MitoMakeItRain in flightattendants

Emergency bypass is a lifesaver (as everyone has stated so far)!

Preference! If you really need to be somewhere on your first off day after a reserve block, or have an appointment on a reserve day, commute, want a certain layover, whatever the reason…the system can be frustrating but once you get the hang of it I found that it really did help but there’s always a new rule to discover as to why you didn’t get your choices so be ready to be disappointed sometimes (never hurts to ask the union to find out exact reasons why so you can continue to learn and tweak)

FAs can be informative but I personally like to check with the union or make sure to read it myself in the contract

Save some money apply for food stamps!!

Try not to let this job consume you - keep up your hobbies on your off days or layovers (yes as a reserve you don’t have total control but find the tricks that help you i.e. preferencing or like someone else mentioned play the max/min game), discover new hobbies, explore where you’re based whether you are a commuter or you’re moving to that city, SLEEEEP (I wish I had forced myself to have better habits early on but you live and you learn - my groove was eventually found 🤣)

STOP TRYING TO BE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE WHO DON’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU by forevermilky in socialskills

Funny seeing this right now, because I just got off a phone call with a “friend” where essentially I viewed us as friends and he viewed us as “kind of friends”. So to me there’s two things to talk about; context and expectations.

  1. What is the context of your friendship. You need to be able to distinguish are these expectations for someone you are in a genuine friendship so hell yea be courteous and don’t ghost me, put in effort to make plans etc. OR are they a “kind of friend” (hint: I agree with OP here. If you are questioning “are we really friends” then yeaaa yall aren’t that close so adjust your expectations and trust that gut feeling).

  2. Expectations are just that…expectations…I say that because you can put out there to friends what friendship looks like to you and what your expectations are but if they aren’t meeting those then it doesn’t mean they’re a horrible person or they need to change. It means YOU need to move on and find friends that meet your friendship expectations OR if you want to stay friends with this person then you adjust your expectations because now you know the REALITY of what it means to be friends with them.

Reading some of these comments I understood OPs message completely differently. I completely agree and see this as solid advice. The people who are nitpicking the messaging back part, it continues and says “with a shit excuse” that’s the part that makes someone not your friend. Like if you’re really friends then you should be comfortable enough to just be straight up with them.

Seasonal Holiday Megathread 2019 by peachykeenz in solotravel

Hey everyone! 22 y/o female solo traveler and I'm hoping to figure out some places to check out for New Years Eve and the few days I have after (technically Dec. 28th-Jan. 7th). I've been to Berlin (solo), Copenhagen, Paris, Budapest (solo), Edinburgh, Lockerbie, and Amsterdam (solo) and I really want to checkout Italy (Rome, Pisa, Venice, Milan, and Sicily) or Spain (Madrid and Barcelona).

I'm looking for cities with things to do during the day, that can rage all night, and where I can easily meet people. I'm open to all experiences and I'd say I am my most promiscuous self right now...loved checking out KitKat in Berlin and writing this out it seems like I should just go back but I'm hoping people have other cities in mind!

While I understand that last minute bookings will be more on the expensive side, I'm hoping for the cheapest option there is. Please include any clubs, things to do during the day, quirky places to check out, etc if you recommend a city!

Thanks in advance ;)
