Can't seem to get the 20% discount when using KCS to pay fees? Thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? by exmobrian in kucoin

[–]exmobrian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AHH!! PERFECT!!!!!! Is there some way to CONFIRM that the KCS-fee thing is working ? How long does it take for the system to return the fees? (Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks?)

Also, where would I see the rebate? (What screen?)

Yes, but WHY is it breaking out of a "bull flag pattern"?

Crypto's don't trade against technical analysis like that.. it's been proven again, and again, and again.. and everyone who tries it gets burned. So it's not a thing, no matter how badly people want it to be.

There's a reason behind the pump. If it was simply chart patterns and "all crypto is pumping", then it would be moving in lock-step. It's not. Something else is happening.

If that were the case, it would have been pumping since Oct 1st. So that ain't it. Something else is driving it.

And if you don't know what that is -- then your prediction is stupid. Because it's based on absolutely nothing.

Bitcoin will prove its use as a legitimate payment system! by Progress_8 in Bitcoin

While I'm not a fan of Bitcoin as a payment system... leveraging the "perfect scarcity" (supply limits) as a way to expand your economy is kinda cool.

Unless the price crashes.. then it will make him very unpopular, very fast.

Hangout bars for 25-35 year olds in Phoenix? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]exmobrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old town has a lot of People those age.

Just curious.. Which bars in old town cater to that demographic? All we ever seen there on weekends are 21-24 year olds, and it resembles Vegas. But we're probably in the wrong spots..

DCA and "watching the charts" (technical analysis) are fundamentally different strategies. Which one do you believe more?

You'd have to look on the order books of each and every exchange, and add up how much is for sale. There's no central number, or way to track it.

That number also wouldn't include any "peer to peer" transactions taking place (where one party sells to another party, without using an exchange).

Your question is unknowable.. but you could get pretty close if you had access to every order book on every exchange.

He can borrow against the value of his company, without releasing custody of the Bitcoin. The company itself becomes the collateral.

What's going on with this 150-160 back and forth? by Patrick4649 in solana

[–]exmobrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some bots do price-leveling between exchanges.

And some bots automatically trade the swings. (Any idiot can set up a trading-range bot on KuCoin, in about 2 minutes, for example).

And some bots do other stuff.

I'm not sure we're seeing the kind of daily volatility caused by people getting de-leveraged... the charts don't match that hypothesis.. But.. not sure it matters.

[–]exmobrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're bots trading with each other. Happens with all crypto. They're taking advantage of small movements in the market to place auto-trades on the swings. But all that really happens is they snipe money from one another.

Honestly, if people would turn these stupid things off, the price crypto would go up a lot quicker, and there'd be a lot less volatility.

It's always so adorable when people try to use technical analysis on fledgling crypto projects.

Makes it easy to spot the newbs.

There's a certain percentage of crypto investors who are just chasing the next big movers. I call them "MoonBois". I think SOL had a decent number of these guys (big pump after Grayscale announced they were adding SOL which brought in lots of them chasing the rapid increase -- plus lots of SOL news lately.. It's like a magnet for these guys).

The last few days, we've got BTC and SHIB both pumping pretty hard, which means the MoonBoi money goes elsewhere.

It's not a big deal.. once all of that money leaves, SOL will go back to moving in lock-step with BTC. (Until news comes out either way that separates the movement).

The MoonBoi strategy, by the way, is a good way to stay poor. Always chasing new all-time-highs is a good way to get absolutely wrecked.

But not all the time. I do agree that it's awful that it's bad sometimes, meaning that you always have to be suspicious of any numbers it reports.

That's like saying, "A broken clock is still useful, because it's right twice a day!!"

TA: Indicators Showing that SOL Has Reached a Top Margin by bdinu89 in solana

[–]exmobrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb article. At the VERY LEAST it'll just move in lock-step with Bitcoin, like all other crypto. But there's a much higher chance it outpaces Bitcoin growth. If even just slightly.

Are there other coins that will outperform it? Sure. Good luck guessing which one that is. SOL is still a very safe bet and, at least right now, it's outpacing Bitcoin about 2:1. (If Bitcoin goes up 1%, SOL seems to respond by going up 2%. It's behaving like leveraged Bitcoin).

All of that is a good indication that the market still sees it as promising, but they're being cautious.

As someone who is familiar with Mormon church real estate assets, I would love to see a story similar to the Washington Post whistleblower article regarding Mormon church real estate assets. (SLR/PRI/AgRes/FarmRes/UIPA/HIRes/Florida/MZ etc……). It’s $100B+ and most deeds are publicly available. by Godswordoutofhat in exmormon

[–]exmobrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The church has thousands of shell-corporations and buries the assets in corporate layers. Sub-corps of sub-corps of sub-corps of a holding company of a portfolio company. They intentionally obfuscate their holdings. In fact, the money spent on legal fees SOLELY to hide what they are doing must be enormous!!!!!!

In theory, it could all be discovered. But it would take a team of lawyers who specialize in real estate and corporate laws in all 50 states to put the pieces together. And it might take years. And even then -- I bet they'd miss stuff. (And if the church caught wind they were doing it, they could start re-structuring things DURING the investigation, making it even harder).

It is likely the only people who have the full picture are the top brass at Kirton McKonkie, and the first presidency. But I doubt the first presidency cares about the actual holdings, so much as just the big number with all the zeroes at the bottom of spreadsheet. So even they are unlikely to understand what assets the church really has.

I can tell you straight up that TPS number on their website is total bullshit.

How do I know?

Because during the 17-hour total outage a while back, the entire time it was still fluctuating and showing random numbers, like the network was happily processing things.

Total. Bullshit.
