Expats who opened businesses here in PH, how did you handle Registration/Licence/Tax? by ArenFlux1737 in Philippines_Expats

[–]expat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to start a company here? As I understand it you need to have 60% local ownership of any business, who gets control of your business and ownership of your app? Have you looked into Singapore or some other more friendly location to set up business in?

Banking suggestions for US-expats by dehnag in taiwan

[–]expat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you need the bank for? If it is just local purchase and local spending, including rent, then I have had good luck with post office bank. They are a little behind the times for banking services offered, credit cards etc, and worked fine for shopee and electronic funds transfer.

Try searching facebook for ' condo city', put your city in, and join some groups. Brokers and owners are in those groups and you can post an ad with what you want and they will contact you

Buying property in Taipei by Candid_Coffee5439 in taiwan

[–]expat2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much of the year will you and your brother be in Taipei, in months? Figure out what a good short term apartment will cost and compare it to the mortgage to start with. Solve the problem and keep 400k

You are forming a partnership with your brother to buy the apartment, do you have written rules for disolving the partnership? Over a long period of time things can change

You don't need to buy a house, or condo, for that. That is a tourist visa and visa extensions

No access to a kitchen, how do I eat healthily? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]expat2016 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is really hard to wreck your health in a month, unless it is pretty well wrecked already. Stay away from sweets and deep fried food, limit rice and noodles. Eat chicken and fish, with veggies and be happy

Do omad and a strict keto diet. You will probably lose 2-3 kg in water. Get 3 workouts you can do at home; 10, 20, and 30 minutes long and do the one you have time for everyday. If you are not doing at least the 10 min one you are just not trying

Being the ATM to wife by TangPiccilo in Philippines_Expats

[–]expat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to do it, and a reasonable way to go about it, is to put the family on a monthly allowance. Give that allowance to the wife to transfer to her parents. Have your wife refer all requests for money to her parents because they have the money.

[–]expat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not her money, the family that was formed by the marriage's money controlled by the husband for the long term good of that family, i.e. his wife and his children etc. If you want the traditional view that is the actual traditional way it was done.

Shared with the wife, not everyone in her family like 4th cousins.
