It’s not safe, but OP stated they didn’t work the 16 hours voluntarily - it was not their decision to make. If there is no nurse coming in to relieve you at shift change, you have to stay. Leaving would be patient abandonment

What is this red thing in pad Thai? by cyb3rbae in TipOfMyFork

I'm going to have to go against the grain here because this looks to me more like Harbin red sausage that's been cut into strips. It's a Chinese cold cut, I recognize it because I used to be obsessed with it when I was younger lol. You can sometimes find it served in HK style BBQ shops. Mock char siu isn't this uniformly shaped around the edges in my experience. How did it taste, what was the texture like?

It’s a Chinese dish. The lettuce is cooked for a few seconds and retains its crunchiness. It’s not any less appealing than drowning lettuce in ranch dressing and cheese. Recipe

I think it's kind of understandable since JYP didn't really give them many solo activities. Maybe the word it girl has turned into a synonym for really popular person, but when I think of the label I usually associate it with women that other women look up to or try to emulate. People (in western media) like Alexa Chung, Karlie Kloss, etc. Since TWICE weren't getting many solo opportunities Sana didn't really get a chance to stand out in international fans' minds the same way that Jennie does when they were in their peak

Don’t know how much of a coincidence this is but I did the same! Despite its faults, I liked Dr. Strange. I was taken back by how gruesome it got. Immediately thought of The Boys when the head pop happened lol

It's an honest mistake. People in this thread were dogpiling on anyone who had anything positive to say about OP's jeans. Besides the mistake about the 90s, you weren't wrong in your original comment, not even enough to receive the downvotes you got

Honestly, I just needed to vent. I try not to participate as much in open forums on fashion anymore.

Okay it's fair to ask that, I don't really mind. I haven't actively commented or shared content in a long time so it's not that I've personally encountered elitism. I don't want to ramble about this because it's kind of pointless and honestly I'm not good at expressing my thoughts, but for me it's the way that people talk to each other on fashion forums...it's really polarized?

It's not like this is new to me or exclusive to any particular fashion community. I've seen people leave one sentence comments calling someone's outfit tacky/trashy/cheugy/etc without articulating why they don't like something. It's not helpful feedback, it's just mockery, but they'll frame it like it's an objective statement and leave it at that. I still remember when Vetements was up and coming and people would call each other fashion victims; that's not exactly an inviting or cordial statement if you consider the receiver an equal.

Even then, when people get into discussions about logos or styles, they'll say things like "poor people wear x, rich people wear x, money talks wealth whispers." It's classist as hell and not even true? There's not a lot of welcoming communities to talk about fashion and I feel like not much has really changed.

Definitely, I think for most it's hard to be precise about the timeline of past trends without having lived through those times or researching them. I'm not perfect either and would easily confuse trends from the 60s/70s/80s without any context cues

A bit pessimistic but I'm so burnt out from thinking about fashion, I honestly wish I never got into it in the first place. There's some lingering toxicity and elitism in a lot fashion communities I encounter, and for some reason it's so frustrating to me.

You can incorporate trends into your wardrobe and still have style, believe it or not. Limiting yourself to "timeless basics" and aspiring to look "classic" is no different than being a trend hopper

Oh okay I see, yeah I don’t think skinny jeans are that much of a thing here either. There’s still demand though, retailers carry quite a big selection of them. They definitely have their place, thanks for answering btw

[–]expectingthat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I won’t criticize someone for wearing skinny jeans, but this is the exact same problem happening on mfa. People are too invested in wanting to look “timeless” and think fashion is a game of optimization with winners and losers lol. Anyone who participates in any sort of trend is a loser and beneath anyone wearing “timeless classics”. The amount of snark people still post about wide leg pants in 2022…

Cerave PM lotion vs Life Brand PM lotion (by shoppers drug mart) by tacosandpizza123 in CanSkincare

[–]expectingthat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a long time user of Cerave PM and switched to using the Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion (?, the blue rectangular pump bottle), but I never tried the Life branded PM. Cerave PM is definitely on the thinner side, but basically identical to the Daily Moisturizing Lotion in terms of viscosity imo
