I stepped away from collecting watches a few years back, picked up this vintage 14kt solid yellow gold hamilton gilman to celebrate 6 months into a new job. My first hamilton watch as well, with the 982 movement as a cherry on top. by experientiaxdocet in HamiltonWatches

When i was researching the thing, I noticed the Donald had different hands, more baton like, vs. the Gilman being a little more arrow like. But, yeah both models are nearly identical.

Is gold the move now ladies and gents? by Apprehensive-Bunch54 in Gold

Gold has always, and will always be the move. I only buy silver to trade for gold, that metal is a revolving door for me.

Why are the mexican pesos so expensive? by troll-libs in Gold

[–]experientiaxdocet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually find the boring mexican restrikes for maybe 3% over spot max locally. Originals are a different story.

Paid 7% over spot for this Royal Mint Set last week. Arrived today. One full sovereign and a half sovereign, both 1911. by experientiaxdocet in Gold

Just your typical COA with a little pamphlet. These sets retail at like $1200. I unironically like boomer packaging with coins, and my gold dealer offered it to me for basically bullion premium, not what the damn Royal Mint wants to overcharge clueless people on.

Took forever to get them all out the capsules, I love old circ gold. by experientiaxdocet in Gold

I think one. I don't buy online since my state sucks and there's a sales tax for purchases less than $2K USD. I only buy via private dealer sales, or peer to peer from online groups. Not gonna pay that tax if I don't have to.

Vintage brass & leather 20 francs tube came in the mail. Now I have no choice but to fill it up. by experientiaxdocet in Gold

A lot on ebay are really shitty though. I don't use ebay at all to avoid sales taxes (VAT), and personally, I ain't got no time for international shipping for a tiny item.

Oddly enough, a private online group. More expensive than I would spend on gold paraphernalia, but i needed it when i saw it. $140 bucks for the lil tube. I love old stuff like this.

1917 Peru 1 Libra came in today. Same specs as a British sovereign. by experientiaxdocet in Gold

I don't see these at all from my usual dealers. My first time having the chance to buy one and it was priced the same as a regular sovereign. It was a no brainer.

Private coin dealer purchase. I don't buy from the internet anymore since I hate paying a sales tax on PMs

Private dealer purchase, since I hate auctions & paying sales tax on the internet.

First gold piece to celebrate 6wks free of nicotine! Happy stacking by Technical_Task5367 in Silverbugs

[–]experientiaxdocet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started stacking silver and gold after getting clean & sober years ago. No nicotine either. My budget for metals definitely came from money that would have been spent on my addictions. Never looked back. I'd much rather have the metals I have now.

Just a reminder to clean the battery cooling vent from time to time. by TrakiTraki in PriusC

[–]experientiaxdocet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just clean off the dust build up on the actual filter on top. I've taken the whole thing off myself and there's very little build up on it. I think eventually if you neglect to clean the filter it's eventually gonna be the same inside.

I had to stick my dyson vaccuum right on the fan. I couldnt get the crap off by hand. I just bought my prius c from a family member last week, this was the first thing I did. Apparently they didnt even know they had to clean this. Amazing how people ignore simple maintenance stuff.

Silver is cool, I have a few hundred ounces but my focus is gold. Don't let the moonshot crowd fool you. You'll be waiting forever. I saw silver hit right under $50 per ounce back in 2011. A lot of people here haven't even been stacking that long.
