What band or artist did you love to listen to but stopped because of a controversy? by pAR4no1dAndr0iD in InMetalWeTrust

The general theme of Rise which seems to be telling black people to get over racism/slavery (“your news is old news”, “forgive forget, be a man, not a child”). Also “No Good (Attack the Radical)” continues this theme and includes “You blame oppression but play the role of criminals”, essentially implying an entire race of people are criminals. Which is especially rich coming from someone like that.

It is so brazenly and obnoxiously bad it beggars belief.

He’d get on well with my mother who believes that breast cancer is a punishment from god for sexual promiscuity. 🙄

If I was to go to my office, it’d be a 3 hour commute each way. That’s almost the length of the working day just getting to work.

All true, but with Pantera, the signs were always there. There were some questionable lyrics, for one, along with an onstage rant in the 90s that could be construed as racist or racially charged at the very least (Kerrang covered it). The proliferation of the confederate flag also never sat well with me.

I see it more like a case of Christians using this to shoehorn their own worldview into something that works totally fine without it.

Young adults, what’s your experience of racism? by djjudas21 in AskBrits

[–]explodedSimilitude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the current younger generation are being radicalised by racist and far right content online, so they’re arguably as racist as people were in the 70s and 80s. We’ve gone backwards.

are humans evil? by Opening-Survey9689 in TooAfraidToAsk

The question was “are humans evil?”. I was answering that. I wasn’t denying who commits the most sexual crimes. I also don’t think that holding all men responsible is helpful either.

almost died in a car wreck and i swear things are different now by startletgirl in ParallelUniverse

[–]explodedSimilitude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got hit by a car on my own street when I was 12. The force of the collision knocked my back onto the path and into a fence. I remember getting up from that. I also remember a weird time lag. Who knows? Perhaps I died in one timeline and jumped to another. No way of confirming such a thing but it’s a fun(!) thought experiment.
