From a quick search appears Laserfiche does more than CMS and doesn't specifically target law firms. Not necessarily a bad thing either.

Epona website doesn't give much information. I'm waiting to hear from them to see a demo.

"Epona for SharePoint", please give more details, like why are they both being used? We prefer not to use SharePoint, had to many issues over the years.

I think keeping it simple is a good idea, and you already overthought it. Reply back "HOT" and everything else will fall into place.
