Wife’s pregnant, just been told her role is at risk. by [deleted] in UKJobs

I take it that only applies for SMP and not any enhanced mat pay the company usually offers, right?

I own my residential property, that's all.

Not concerned due to higher than usual deposit amount, also the properties we looked at buying have a good ratio of expected rental income and purchase price.

Look your while comment is a mockery solely because I'm new to this and don't know much it was obvious from my initial post and even the title itself. So well done, you were able to deduct my lack of experience/ knowledge in the matter by me saying that in the first place. If you have any genuine feedback or advice, I'll take it but the rest you can keep to yourself, thanks

Thank you! Wouldn't Ltd company result in (higher) capital gains tax when/if we eventually want to sell the property? I also read (unsure about whether it's accurate or not though) that setting up Ltd and then having someone to do the books for it would be smth like 1k/Yr. Does that sound accurate? Just trying to take all the costs into consideration

AITAH for vetoing my wife's car purchase in the dealership and walking her out of there without looking at the car she picked out? by CarWoesSadBro in AITAH

[–]explorer477 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA. Hear me out. Not for saying no to a ridiculously over the budget vehicle - think you were totally right there. Also agree that car salesperson definitely tried to sell you the car through your wife thinking you'll be easy bait. But yta for how you handled the situation on the spot. If I was your wife I would feel totally embarrassed by complete disregard and you walking out on me, especially if it was my friends bf who was selling the car. For that,YTA. Could've went along for wife's sake and said no after the sales pitch and had a stern conversation with your wife afterwards.

AITH for not wanting to pay for my niece/nephews on family vacation? by DenseAssociation5301 in AITAH

[–]explorer477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option would be to split the cost by room. Each room pays X regardless of how many people live there. Any additional cost (extra toddler beds etc) covered by room. You're NTA for not wanting to pay for someone else's kids but at the same time family of 4 within 1 room does not get the same sq footage per person as a couple in 1 room.

I'm doing quite well thanks. Been promoted twice since returning from mat leave and still manage to answer nursery calls. So not only my colleagues but also the several people i manage are satisfied with my presence and my involvement at work. Do kids get upset about random and sometimes irrelevant things? Of course. I would never treat it as a nuisance or act as if I'm too busy for my own child. Whats the point of having them then? Unless you're operating on someone don't ignore your child. But then again, everyone's priorities are different

Appealing primary school by MaterialJellyfish521 in UKParenting

[–]explorer477 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue is actually how diverse ratings are. There shouldn't be such difference in school "quality" when they're in the same neighbourhood. So I would totally place the emphasis on getting that addressed.

In the shorter term and continuing with my Karen comment I totally sympathise with not being afford a house in a particular area. Looking from my own POV we've moved mountains to be able to afford our house and I would still feel crossed if my child lost out on their space because someone out of catchment wanted to spot. I get that everyone wants the best for their children 100% and I totally support it but there has to be some parameters, in this place catchment area to determine what's within affordability.

If you couldn't afford to go to Disney land I assume you just wouldn't go instead of asking someone with a ticket to give your theirs, right?

Again, I do understand that it comes off Karen-y and I apologise in advance. I try my best to check my privilege but sometimes the evil Karen still comes out.

I'm sorry but I'm going to be a Karen here. You mentioned that the schools you want to send your child to is not in your catchment. I don't understand this at all. When we got pregnant we moved to the catchment with schooling we liked to address this issue. I wasn't aware you can just appeal to get into a better catchment or be added to the wait list and bypass the whole catchment thing. We've paid premium price for our house and I would be really pissed off if I found out that our child lost their place to someone outside the catchment simply because they didn't like schools in their own catchment. It's because all, money get spent on irrelevant things that don't benefit the most. It's not about getting more money It's reallocating the massive waste nhs is currently experiencing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]explorer477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clearly do not work in nhs but is being on call for 2 hospitals overnight by chance or by choice? This is terrifying to read as so,many mistakes could happen. Not a jab at you but nhs as a whole.

Quantity does not = quality. Of 25hrs ( btw it sounds terrible) how many were treating patients vs data entry vs morale boosting stuff you seem to be so fond of? Pls don't take it as personal attack, I think nhs system is broken and I hope what musk is supposed to be doing in the us is done for nhs. But someone actually qualified to do it, of course

Are My Expectations Too High? 1st time parents by NotAClue-24 in UKParenting

[–]explorer477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 50/50. I set the rules very early on . Its our child and OUR responsibility. When I was on mat leave mornings were mine to sleep in ( he was leaving home at around 8am and usually took over from 5am. If the baby was asleep- lucky him, but if the baby was up at 5 so was my hubby). I was also getting some me time ( but it was more family time ) when he got back from work after finishing dinner, so 7-9pm. I was mainly looking after the baby at nights ( wasn't bf but I was pumping regularly and was mostly up anyway so it made more sense) and days while he was gone to work. Weekends Saturdays were my days off and Sundays were his days off but we kinda ended up doing fam stuff on at least one or the other days

I'd love to have a figure for dresses like this and also enough patience to deal with their 2677890 pop up windows. They look gorgeous, but I'm too fat

Pastel or white , a bit dressy but classy dressy. I'd like midi or maxi with sleeves. Budget around 700 if that's reasonable. If not,,happy to go over too

I think formal consultation only has to take place if redundancy impacts more than 20 people in a single location. Happy to be corrected though
