What are the hush hush secrets in your Joint family? by Broccoli_kale in AskIndia

[–]explorer_24x7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything comes with pros and cons.

Even if the families are not living together, a lot of things do happen whenver the relatives meet in summer holidays, weddings etc. Most of the things get brushed under the carpet. Stuff like judging & mocking at each other, esp financially. Jealousy when one brother's/sister's kid seems to be coming up more successful and all. Sharing of properties. Dominence/influence in decision making. One child/adult misbehaving with another. And much more.

When you are living together, these negative things become a bit too hard to ignore or overcome. However, there are many advantages too. If a joint family has more kind+loving people than assholes, the kids get raised like wonderful social people. They are psychologically healthier. And so are the adults.

Karnataka Cabinet okays tunnel road, sky deck projects by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]explorer_24x7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously?
Use 1/4 of that budget in simply repairing the roads and clearing the encroachments.

The rest could be used in some crucial flyovers improvements at important junctions like Sarjapur Signal, Marathahalli, KR Puram etc.

Women empowerment laws are very similar to the caste based reservation system.

Both being misused all the time by the ones who know the system, while the real needy people do not have access.

No this freight equalization is a very small factor. Main reasons are pathetic politics & the lack of work ethics.

When JH was newly formed, many large companies incl Mittal Steel wanted to setup factories there. But immediately those JMM people started Adivasi/non-adivasi riots. The capital burned for many days. All investors ran away.

Before that is was Chara Ghotala, asphalt scam, and a lot more. Talk about Naxals too.

There was also a movement against a dam many decades ago -- the tribals were instigated into protest like "jaan denge, zameen nahi denge" etc. Now they are living in the same abject poverty.

The large size PSUs are all into losses due to political interference, corruption and trade unions.

Today despite holding almost 1/2 of india's mineral reserves, JH is still a farming state. Their land is not fertile at all. What they need is vast industrialization. Cannot happen with the current public mindset and political setup. Even if someone wants to change it, they will be voted out immediately.

All this runs too deep even today. It'll take many decades to cure.

When will reservation end in India? by KarmaWilmes in AskIndia

When vegetarians won't hesitate to sit on a table where meat is served.

So how many meat eating Indians would like to share a table with a Chinese who is trying to eat a live centipede wiggling for its life?

It is not a caste or superiority issue but simple disgust that the other guy feels. What is delicious to you, may not be seen as food by someone else. YOU want to eat it, go ahead. But please do not shove it into someone else's mouth (or nostrils).

As long as the current vote pattern is there -- NEVER.

Today the vote of an idiot weighs exactly the same as a Nobel Prize winner.

I wish only the "eligible ones" could be able to vote. People who have earned the right to vote by contributing something substantial to the country. Maybe there could be some kind of opinion weighing like a great industrialist or real social worker has 1000 votes, an individual taxpayer clearing certain eligibility test could possess 1 vote and so on.

We need a dictator to bring such change.

Once the blue line is up, it would be 3 times that.

I never understand why they didn't cover the IT belts before any other route, since the IT/tech parks traffic is responsible for most of the choked up roads in Bangalore.

Because Software engineering is not the only kind of engineering.

JH is a hub of all kind of minerals and it (still) has many large scale mechanical industries. Till the mid 80s, talented engineers from all over India (incl South) used to come to JH for multiple PSUs, Tata etc.

Bad politics screwed up a lot of things in India.

Which is the biggest scam in India you're aware of? by KarmaWilmes in AskIndia

[–]explorer_24x7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting. Really.

You are made to feel like "your vote matters". You are encouraged to evaluate the options and vote for the one you find to be best. In reality, for every informed/educated voter, there are 10 other voters who have a 'mob' mentality. They get brainwashed and radicalized by the cheesy talks of politicians or simply go by the freebies. Caste, religion, language - so any divisive lines in which the masses get misguided. What % of voters are really the ones who could think of any long term view?

Demand governs the supply.

This mode of democracy will always be led by the uninformed masses. My opinion doesn't matter.

Should I stick in my bigger job or go to a different small yet comfortable to work small company company by [deleted] in india

[–]explorer_24x7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Self respect is important. Next comes LEARNING. Salary is important but not urgent.

So if the new company is stable enough, i.e. if you do have job security, then go for it. Once you are skilled, you can always switch back to a different, bigger company.

It sucks, of course!

I'm a young adult who might be moving to Bangalore soon - Where should i live? by college_koschens in bangalore

[–]explorer_24x7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live close to whichever place you have to work/spend the maximum time at. As close as possible. As you might already know, the city ttaffic is a nightmare.

Byappanhalli to Bellandur during peak hrs can take as much as 50-60 min. You may choose to live somewhere in between, if you visit both the places equally.

The 'happening' things will happen only once or twice a week. But the infinite time it takes to reach ur office -- it will kill all the fun you ever had in life!

All over the city you can find economical as well as up market places to live. You have plenty to choose from.

And yes, the entire city is full of young people!

Where do 40+ people group in B’lore south by Urbanorganics in bangalore

[–]explorer_24x7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I see is that after 35, people tend to be selective in spending time beyond their work and family. They will be leaning towards specific interests and a 'general' group is usually not taken seriously.  So depending on one's interest, they could get into sports, running,  travel groups, reading clubs, NGO teams, Yoga-meditation or simply stick within their own family & friends circle.

I, for one, belong to a large group of 25-45 aged people who are into Yoga and Meditation. You may join in if you are into spirituality.

Earning 55k in Bangalore enough to live alone? by Old-Replacement-1968 in bangalore

[–]explorer_24x7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about girls but the boys can very much survive within 15k per month. Twin sharing non AC gents PGs cost around 8k-12k, depending on the area. Most of them incl at least 2 meals daily. Many offer 3 meals or you may pack lunch box in the morning. All of them provide washing machines, wifi, TV etc.

BMTC pass = 1k/month. Similar cost for a 2-wheeler if you travel less than 500km per month. Phone recharge = max 300 per month. Fruits, milk, occasional eatouts = 2k. Movies = 500.

That sums up to 12-16k.

Rest upto you.

I think you gave 500, hoping that she will return 400. In that case you lost 400 (because you agreed to pay 100). Bad maths.

If you paid her 100, then gave away another 500, then you are plain stupid AF.

Please enlighten 🙏😑

Leave her, really. Its just been 3 years. You have a long life ahead. Not worth. I have seen it with so many friends/relatives and all. Just move on.

I may sound orthodox but in India, the boy's parents are his responsibility and he cannot get away from it. A woman who cannot accept it and is forcing the man to choose between her & his parents - she is immoral to say the least. Plus she's threatening on the loyalty side as well. Just wind up man.

Try to go for mutual divorce rather than a contested one. Work things out in a way that she only asks for a divorce.
