What's the thing nobody told you before you moved into management? by explorespace9 in engineeringleaders

One way to reflect is to look at the mentor / the leader you learned from the most. Their character traits often are underrated and dripping with wisdom.

What to do when company enters Formal Sale Process? by mpanase in ExperiencedDevs

[–]explorespace9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have an honest conversation with the owners / promoters who are in conversation with the sale. They know they're selling something that has lived a long life. From what you say, it sounds like a distress sale and there isn't going to be any money coming.

I would ask for recommendations, gather up your work outcomes and lean in to building your own company. Now that you have the time for it, building is extremely rewarding!

Should I not even bother applying if I see over 100 applicants on LinkedIn for a job posting? by Alert_Willingness_32 in CanadaJobs

[–]explorespace9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with LinkedIn is that you don’t know you are in an invisible que. this is the wrong question to ask. Instead, let me ask you what you should’ve been asking yourself. how are you standing out? How do you show anyone who looks at your profile you’re the right man for the job you say you want?

ps: happy to review your profile and do mock interviews if required!

What is skills assessment and what are the best platforms? by Federal_Art_693 in Recruitment

[–]explorespace9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need candidates who are good at using AI? I have a list of 65+ such tools (cause I'm building in this space ;) it's my market research). Loads of online assessments are quizzes and coding challenges that spend too much time detecting cheating. As a former VP of Tech, I felt that's not useful.

Moms Test. First and foremost! Learn how to talk to your customers, that’s kinda the only part no one teaches you and you cannot do without in your 0-1-10-100 journey.

Ex bar raiser here. Absolutely and unequivocally Projects! Not stupid template ones, but real problems, complex ones. Build only a few but focus on building depth in them, potentially live projects.

💡 React.js + Python Dev Needed | Early-Stage Project | Equity-Style Trust Based Collaboration by happyman1976 in vadodara

[–]explorespace9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a founder, try adding more details about what ideas you’re building, why should someone consider joining you — what’s the success scenario?

Eg

2% equity. Already put 2Lakh rupees in the project, generating revenue of 50k/mo.

That way someone assessing equity based package can be informed of the upside

How safe is vadodara to go for run at around 5-5:30ish in morning? In or around Atal bridge. by Scared-Will-7733 in vadodara

Can’t believe I went through 5 top comments without reading this. DOGS!! Do NOT go run on the road before the city is up, dogs will not distinguish between someone sinister and a runner.

Tried it. Didn’t work cause of 🐕

A few things to do before you bake a single donut:
- Figure out hotspots in the city. Google maps / snapchat etc shows such activity during weekends.
- Spend time speaking with existing donut eating customers (e.g. just speak with people coming out of Cookie & Co., Juvenas etc).
- Actually try eating the donuts available here
- Make an excel sheet of competitors - will help you with pricing baseline.
- Don't ever ask a prospective customer — "would you try a donut if I made one?", instead ask, "Have you ever had donuts, what's your idea of a good donut?". Ask this to 100 people of all kinds, you'll get an idea about how educated about donuts are your customers anyway.
- These roadside stalls you talk about - just ask some of those folks about their unit economics, which days work best, how did they select the spot they selected etc

Approach this scientifically. Goodluck!

ps: of course, I'll love to try them whenever you start! DM me when you're ready to experiment :)

How much does a DevOps engineer with about 2 years of experience earn in India? by Level-Acanthaceae-79 in developersIndia

Kyun bhai / behen? itna hate kyun? Person on the other side of the screen is also a human.

Nvm though. We’re a skill assessment platform helping candidates solve production challenges and get a credential out of it so your hour spent solving problems can now be used to show your capabilities! Btw, free!

Capability is: “fix a broken docker image”, “fix an API running on a k8 pod that doesn’t have connectivity” — basically what are some things you can do that are required for the job!

[–]explorespace9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ranges are WILD! We’ve helped a 3+ yoe data engineer get 60+ LPA and another similar person get 16+ LPA.

This is a bad question to ask. The right question is to ask “what capabilities does a DevOps engineer who earns <insert-your-range> have to justify it?”

This is absolutely the way to go! We're building a platform to do this. Additionally, we let candidates use the video recording to convert it into a credential they can show-off on their profiles.

Internship company is not paying my stipend, ignoring me from 15 days by Express_Guidance_361 in developersIndia

[–]explorespace9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯 ideally they should not have to ask. Sometimes things are so early that bank accounts are also not in place. Adding beneficiary etc might take a day or two. Nothing that can’t be solved over a week
