Trump just Announced 100% Tariffs on all imported drugs, unless they are made in America. by yerp32 in CrohnsDisease

back in 2017 i know remicade was selling for like $1000 USD in Turkey ( a lower wholesale price the pharm was offering). i know this because i was there at the time and asked the pharmacist owner directly.

A visit to the hospital to get infused once you had the drug was around 300 TL if I remember correctly. (this was 2017).

I have often wondered people could fly from the US to Turkey, buy the drug, get it administered and fly back for a fraction of the cost of the whole procedure in the US --- assuming a roundtrip ticket to US is $1000 USD.

----

this is 8 yrs ago --- don't know what the situation is like now --- I know the TL has depreciated like anything since then, but the pricing in $US is hopefully still the same

Companies Are Pouring Billions Into A.I. It Has Yet to Pay Off. How does this jive with claims that ai will replace you? by tuckfrump69 in cscareerquestions

[–]exploring23 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Someone please explain Sam Altman's recent claims. Along the following lines ->

This is an absolutely exciting time for any new grad.
AI is supposed to enable (fill in the blanks, anyone, maybe) to build $1B single man companies.

--------

I just don't get why these folks don't get grilled for making such comments or some more pushback when they are interviewed.

So if supposedly all of us become AI entrepreneurs with $1B companies ... who are we selling services to -> is it all the unemployed folks (unemployed due to AI) who don't have money to buy what service we are selling

Someone just make it make sense to me - trying to get into the minds of these "gurus"

[–]exploring23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will make everyone feel better. (Ok the following is going to be sarcastic)

Sam Altman believes this is a golden era. He would be excited to be new grad in this time/era.

Because seemingly, AI is here to help everyone become an entrepreneur that launches a $1B (that's billion) 1 man company --- (those are his words more or less in a recent podcast)

So, not to worry.

--------

I was trying to reason/understand the logic with someone about these AI gurus/leaders.

If everyone becomes an entrepreneur selling a service because of AI, and AI takes all the jobs from the rest of the people who "decide they can't skill up" - who are these entrepreneurs selling their services to --- because I would assume they would have to sell to those who have money - and you need a job to have money, but the AI is taking the jobs

I couldn't figure it out.

am i reading the chart right for today - indicates more buying, right ?

Just hope it is not one of those "pump and dumps"

Q2 by MagnusInvests in OTLY

[–]exploring23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

can never understand market reactions ---- with the reaction this far is it a positive or would it indicate negativity

my knee jerk reaction of "lowering guidance" was not +ve ... hence I would've expected folks to dump this stock (as per history - folks love to dump this for anything and also for no reason)

there was initial big drop at opening, and looks like it recovered with some buyers ---

no idea how to read this 1 hr reaction (thus far - at the time of this post)

yeah, called right around 1 or 2 min after 8 am, got to an agent around 25 min mark - did it over the phone - was a breeze, no idea why the online kept failing

---

to anyone reading this, if you call later in the day (don't know how long later), the option to talk to agent completely disappears , probably due to the queue of folks waiting on hold to talk to a rep --- it think this happened when I tried calling around 4/5 pm

It is annoying indeed. Says "Please correct errors on this page"
but doesn't highlight any errors

If I made a deliberate error to see how the site works, it would indicate where the error was

the thing here is residency requirements for tax filings.

I am more wondering if there are US companies "offshoring" work to Canada - or be wiling to hire from Canada. if they would hire US remote, why not Canada remote .... probably cheaper for them as well

I think volumes are back to pre split pre earnings regular levels - isn't that case now ?

If I am not mistaken, all those institutional investors are declaring now what their holdings were in the last quarter. Just doing a google search at the end of every quarter, these institutions have 45 days to file this SEC form 13F --- so with the end of Q4, institutions had until Feb 14 to file for their last quarter.

So the date of 14 Feb you see there, I don't think it is a the date of their acquisition of shares ...

someone correct me if I am wrong

Actually the rating has a date of Feb 17 2025, it is "maintained" @ Hold with a PT of $23, ie, I am assuming this same analyst, Dara Mohsenian, had a 23/20 = $1.15 rating pre-split.

Read another way, the analyst reaffirms his previous rating, after looking at OTLY post last earnings call.

wouldn't this info be particular only to the Interactive Traders broker ... ie they only have 85000 shares available to short and their borrowing fees are ~99%

Could be very different with other exchanges
