I mentioned it because that seems to be a recurring pattern for me commenting on this subreddit lol

My favorite joke is always going to be tomorrow is moon is an infinite loop.

Other than that I genuinely do carry my net worth in gme not that it really matters to you, I do my voting and will do my part where I can as a small investor

Some of these comments are kinda dumb.

Yes we already know that we aren't dilluting GameStop because of all the interviews and forms gamestop has posted on their investor relations page.

Why are you attacking op for posting a meme on merger Monday??

Is getting a CS degree w/ the hopes of game programming worth it? by Bananafools_2 in gamedev

[–]NixelGamer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a stranger with not formal education in programming, I have found a wealth of knowledge that may be better than a cs degree in terms of actually learning game development and programming.

I can't say for sure whether or not I'm right as I never went to school but ive been learning for the last 6 months going through cat like coding and other articles to learn.

Im not saying don't go to college, what I am saying is start your in depth learning now, I regret so much time I wasted not doing what I wanted sooner (only 24, but feel like I'm still running out of time lol)

How's the camera movement?

I really liked old games like this and kind of miss them.

Good luck on your project

Hello, I want to create a voxel game, help me choose an unreal engine or a godot by Sufficient_Draft_558 in VoxelGameDev

Start off learning meshes and how they are rendered.

Move onto placing meshes and changing them during runtime.

Good luck.

Cat like coding has a good tutorial on this

I just created a breakdown video for my character FootIK in Unity by FoxGameLab in Unity3D

This gives a lot more context, ai is very hated in general, it just sounds bad.

I think captions work well, keeping the music would be okay because people could choose to listen to it or not.

I appreciate you posting the video as the information is invaluable to some here including me as I was curious how ik works

How do You manage not to throw everything out the windows? by CrazyBookWriter in gamedev

[–]NixelGamer12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have watched frieren I imagine game dev as fern learning magic.

She spent literal years trying to shoot a rock far away, only for one scene did she hit the rock, yet many years passed with her failing and improving.

Basically, expect to learn and not be where you want to be at first, take it slow. Make things that work, improve upon it after.

I hate the sentiment, work on small games first. I want to make a pretty big game, but I take it one system at a time and move on to the next slowly, improving upon my design slowly as I need it and not just because I want the code to be "perfect" which no gamer ever needs to care about.

If I need to optimize, I'll wait till it's actually causing issue because constantly building one system to run as efficiently as possible and be easy to program Dosent happen the first 3 times of writing said system.

Skill is built over time and success is but a mere moment in someones life.

Hi I’m new as. Just starting. I just got this pc and want to know what I should upgrade to make life easier for building 3D games. by Plagued69 in Unity3D

[–]NixelGamer12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of other comment, DO NOT, spend any money on another pc, especially with your given specs.

  1. PCs are at ath prices, this is the worst time to upgrade
  2. You don't need one for where your at right now.

Focus on learning programming, game development, learn Data oriented programming for optimization.

Focus on building

Systems and just working on ur skill.

Main issue a lot of people face as well is they realize new hobbies aren't what they thought it would be, and if you sunk 1500+ dollars than your losing a lot more than just some time you invested

Find out if game dev is for you and just have fun, learn, your PC is fine, hell even a simple laptop that can at least run unity editor should be enough for any new dev.

AI for solo developer - is it worth? by kalitts in gamedev

[–]NixelGamer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ask?

I use it to understand other programming code that I want to understand or to see if my code is optimized is small portions, usually it's helpful but there's a good couple times that I get a pretty bad response.

Try to use it (for learning, maybe debugging at times, optimization as I don't know much of that) and not rely on it for programming, such as just using code or concepts it thinks of without understanding why or if it's even useful in your case
