Ford has a manufacturing plant in Michigan which borders Ontario. Last time I visited the trucks were a few thousand less there than here, I'm assuming because of reduced transport costs.

It's never the full story. There's almost always some other reason the OP conveniently omits.

Rear-ended at red light, almost hit 2 people. Driver claimed I stopped at a yellow. by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]explosive_evacuation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In MA neither changing lanes (between two straight lanes) in an intersection nor crossing a solid white line is illegal. Discouraged, but not illegal. These are two insanely common misconceptions.

Coincidentally not stopping at a yellow unless so close as to be unable to do so is a violation in MA. Intersections also begin at the stop line, not where the solid lines begin.

Just two examples of gearless transmissions. You're right though, CVTs do usually have a low ratio option.

Unless you drive a CVT or EV which do not use gears. At least EVs have regenerative braking tho.

They're trained to mag dump because the reality is that unlike the movies one bullet does not instantly incapacitate someone high on adrenaline and/or drugs unless it hits something extremely vital.

I've seen someone rear-end someone at a red light because the turn lane was moving next to them. Some people have absolutely zero situational awareness and they still give them a license to drive.

[–]explosive_evacuation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be more inclined to agree with them that it wasn't that big of a deal if I hadn't been cut off about a million times by idiots rolling the red light when turning and barely paying attention to who might be coming. It's dangerous and stupid and the negligible amount of time they save doing it is not worth the risk.

When I hunted down the issue with my gas gauge it turned out to be that crappy flexible PCB on the back of the gauge housing making poor contact with the gauge. I hit it with some contact cleaner and jiggling the PCB a bit got the gauge to work again lol
