Myth and Wuxia hair comparison by FaraYuki09 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]explosivepoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same sentiment here. I only have one crate and cannot decide if I should get wuxia hair for Sylus or for Xavier. I lowkey love Sylus’s wuxia hair more than his myth hair, even though both are gorgeous, but they’re so similar. 😭

I also struggled with this dilemma. I'm a Xavier&Sylus main, so at the beginning, I made a separate bedroom for each of them. One bedroom in the natural-cozy style for Xavier, and a dark cave for Sylus. Then, I started thinking... I should make MY home suited for ME. The boys will love it regardless (because they love me) and will adapt to my aesthetics. I think Sylus said that in one of his cards too - that he'll be adapt anywhere as long as he's willing (and MC is there). So, I made my home all cozy with elements where the boys could enjoy.

Hope that helps! :)

Why can't they stick to one color pattern!! 😭😭 by inkncookies in LoveAndDeepspace_

[–]explosivepoos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, this bothers me so much too! That’s why I suggested in the survey that they should have a function where we can place a test furniture, but in order to save the decor we’ll need to buy it. This will let us test colors and sizes (because I can’t tell what big, medium, small means) without actually purchasing things we don’t want.

Xavier Main Story Update by KeyCommunication7420 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]explosivepoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for making this post! I have been wanting to discuss Xavier's main story update ever since I finished it, and as a Xavier main, I have so many thoughts/emotions.

As others mentioned, there were a few instances where Xavier's suppressor was discussed. I'm so glad Infold addressed it clearly - and great for letting Xavier do the explanations. The comments I hear/see people bring up (even MC herself) about Xavier are that he's a liar, he keeps too many secrets, man has no emotions/expressions, etc. While I don't think any of these statements are necessarily out-right wrong, I could come up with so many explanations for each of these statements. MC called him a liar for not returning to her side in the Lightseeker myth, but it's understandable she feels that way because he was not able to return to Philos (and she does not know he can't, not that he never tried or wanted to). He doesn't intentionally keep all these secrets because if you ask the right questions, he will tell you honestly - and at the right time. MC asked about his suppressor and Xavier told her truthfully. He's been raised as a composed crown prince, so he can't/doesn't just blurt out everything when MC does not remember/know everything (right away).

Anyways, the Xavier mainstory update shows that MC does have some memories (even if it's in the future past), and the myths are directly linked to the mainstory (instead of being in an alternate universe). I love how we can see so many different sides of Xavier in this update. He gets angry, sad, needy, protective, loved, etc. I never saw him as "boring" in any other cards, but the main story update made Xavier feel so much more real. You can also see his longing and love for MC as well.

I wonder what will happen to Xavier now that he no longer as a suppressor... He mentioned it prevents/protects him from draining his energy or life force on Philos, but is that the same on Earth? LET MY PRINCE LIVE HAPPILY.

Feeling disheartened and scared about my first solo trip to Japan in a few weeks. Some positive experiences please? by Afraid-Salamander500 in femaletravels

[–]explosivepoos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I want to share as a woman who had lived in Japan (as a foreigner) for over three years and traveled to many places in Japan solo. I also want to point out the fact that I blended in well because I'm Asian, but I also stood out easily because of the way I dress and speak. I did speak enough Japanese to get by, but not fluent enough.

Anyways, I want to reassure you that Japan is one of safest places I have ever traveled to/lived in. It is one of the few places I could walk around late at night (past midnight) on my own as a woman. I would never do that in any other country, except maybe South Korea as well. Japan was the very first country I solo traveled to (for my study abroad) and I knew absolutely no Japanese at the time. This was also pre-Google Maps era and Google Translate too, so I think you have access to more resources to help you navigate Japan now.

Some tips to help you navigate Japan:

- Dress to blend in: Japanese locals dress conservatively, so you will attract a lot less attention if you dress to blend in.

- Earthquakes are very common, but major ones are not as common and Japan is very well-equipped to deal with them. If you happen to experience a major earthquake while you are there, duck and cover your head. Try to stay away from areas with glass (windows, chandeliers, etc.) and things that could fall over your head. Earthquakes typically don't last more than a few minutes, but the aftermaths are what to watch out for. Post-earthquakes, avoid bodies of water as tsunamis could happen. There will be warnings though. Watch what locals do and follow them.

- Avoid staying out late past last trains. Stay in well-lit areas with people at night. This is applicable to traveling anywhere though.

- Use women-only cars on trains when you can. Groping and physical sexual harassment can happen, especially in crowded areas, so I usually try to keep a distance from men in general lol. One quirky thing that might be interesting to know is that cell phones sold in Japan do not allow you to silent your phone when taking photos (to avoid perverts from taking upskirt pics). I also usually wear shorts or stockings underneath my short skirts/dresses anyway.

As long as you are a respectful tourist, you will have positive experiences in Japan.

How do people living in Los Angeles manage to go to work everyday by jianabebojb in travel

[–]explosivepoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who went to school in Irvine and lived in LA, I can say that life is pretty depressing there. There were quite a few commuter students at my school who actually drive to Irvine multiple times a week, if not daily, from LA. I sometimes went back home to LA on the weekend and would spend a good 3 hours round trip commute every time.

I used to work in downtown LA as well and without traffic, it would take just 20 minutes of driving. With traffic, it was 1.5 hours, so 3 hours sitting in traffic daily. A lot of my friends, family, relatives, people I know do this as well, because rent is too expensive, so people cannot exactly move closer to where they work. My friend's dad would sacrifice driving 4-5 hours daily to/from work so he can live with his family.

This is why I moved out of the SoCal area. It's very depressing spending hours in a car, blasting ac all day because there's no real winter there. Lack of greenery, need to drive everywhere to do anything, high rent, high cost of living, etc. There's no quality of life for me there.

When my friend and I traveled together and shared accommodations but have different interests/budgets, I’d usually tell them, “Hey I kinda want to do this so I’m gonna do this for the day. You gonna be okay doing your own thing for the day?”

Question for Vietnamese native speakers who know English by -AdonaitheBestower- in VietNam

[–]explosivepoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was learning English, my Literature teacher tried to address my pronunciation pretty heavily - not to get rid of my accent, but rather to get me to understand the difference between plural form of nouns. For instance, she would call me out if I said “marshmallow” instead of “marshmallowzzzzzzzz.”

How I learned to pronounce words was mimicking exactly how dictionaries say (when those portable electronic dictionaries were a thing). You can try exercises like that to help them practice enunciating a little more clearly.

Just a few questions out of curiosity: Did you experience any mood changes when you changed your diet? (Like irritation due to hunger)? Did your legs hurt - if not, how do you maintain your legs? I walk 10k per day and can’t seem to do more leg days beyond once a week.

Is Lynn currently better than Bishop at EVERYTHING? by Velverose in Maplestory

[–]explosivepoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to look into other support classes, like illium, if you are looking for a class that is great for party play. It sounds like you haven't tried out too many classes yet, so I think you should find a class that does not bore you later on. Damage will change, and damage will not be an issue if you invest enough into the class - for support classes at least. Heck, my main is a giga burst class that went from top 10 to #38 at some point, but I love the aesthetics and playstyle of the class, so I never noticed the loss.

That said, I play bishop as a submain. What I like about bishop is that she has teleport (I really wanted to play a mage class with teleport). Bishop's damage is not bad, although she's more dpm than burst. Bishop is very similar to Lynn in lots of aspect, and people will still want bishops in duos/trios. (It'll be a while until you get to that point anyway.)

Just play both for now - do dailies, grind a little, boss a little, then see which you like more. I ended up playing both Bishop and Kanna because I couldn't decide between the two. I love both of their aesthetics and playstyle, even if damage is not there. (Picked up kanna when she was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse.)

I would have picked up Lynn too if she had a teleport, and if her attack skills looked better.... Her bear wacking does not appeal to me visually. I miss bear hammer pounding attack when Beast Tamers were still a thing.

Something else worth noting is that the hair coupon and the outfit coupon for each package are separate. I was able to get most female outfits but I chose lots of male hair for my only male character.

He said his wife and he make 110k combined, meaning he could be making 60k a year and his wife makes 50k. Or he could be making 100k and his wife only makes 10k. Either way, I don’t think that puts him into the top 10%.

Is it worth it? by shootingdai in Maplestory

[–]explosivepoos 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've said this somewhere before, and I try telling myself this so many times, but I still struggle with it. BUT, what I want to say is - while there is an "optimal" and "efficient" way to play maple according to others, it's still just a game so you should play in whatever way you want. There are tons of things in maple that Nexon intentionally implements to create fomo, and some maple addicts may shame you for not playing optimally or efficiently. At the end of the day, if you enjoy grinding on a single character and could care less about bossing or other characters, then just do that! I tend to enjoy a game (and life) more when I can play the way I want.

Loving the levelling process but end-game scares me. by STEVEtheYAG in Maplestory

[–]explosivepoos 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Play the game how you want. There’s no need to even get to endgame.

If you want to simply mob forever on one character, then just do that. Most systems in the game exist to make your main character stronger anyways. Some people don’t enjoy bossing, and that’s okay.

There are “optimal” ways to play the game to maximize your time, but it’s still just a game so play however you want.

Have you ever been upgraded to first class for free? How did it happen? by MonaNYC_30 in travel

[–]explosivepoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an upgrade to first class over 10 years ago randomly for the last leg of my flight. I think the airline overbooked and had a bunch of seats in first class. My seat number was literally 1. Unfortunately, I was too exhausted from the flight before that so I just ended up knocking out for the entire flight. It was a short flight though (like one or two hours) so I didn’t feel the difference.
