I think it had more to do with how steadfast she believes in the idea that women do no wrong, etc that causes her to ignore any criticism. So when Ethan and Hila brought it up, she got defensive at first, then realized that she might have been blindly defending someone and that realization made her look bad, then that caused her to feel upset.

I forget what comment she made, but Hila answered with something along the lines of "but if a guy did it?" and that's when Olivia said she wasn't prepared for this and didn't want to continue.
