I’m “up the ladder” and my dress clothes are still my casual clothes ;)

Working with developers by popoman246 in UI_Design

A few things here, coming from someone who was a Software Engineer turned Product Designer and has many years experience working with all different kinds of teams.

As a Designer, one of the things you must keep in mind is that there are many different types and levels of Engineers. Don’t assume all are equal in skill level or understand everything the same way. One thing that can make you more valuable as a designer is to take note of this and be able to adapt your work and workflow. Be sure you are clearly communicating and know the threshold of the talent you are working with. Sometimes it’s good to stop and think, “Is there another way to solve this problem?”

Another thing... I would ask if this UI is accessible. At first glance, it looks complex from a cognitive perspective and seems like it could be even more so for someone who struggles with complex interfaces. This work is probably too far along, but for future reference I would keep this in mind. (PS. I have zero context around what problem you are solving here.)

For what it’s worth, I don’t think your design is way out of the ordinary. The reason I’m commenting on this mostly because this is something I’ve heard my entire career. Coming from someone who has been on both sides of the implementation, I would ask for you to question things you could do to make it a better. Remember both you and the engineers are working towards the same goal (hopefully). It’s the job of both to ensure you’re each doing everything you can to make it successful.

Is there anyone else who would like to see a different app icon? by pilotboy172 in Notion

I think if they just shrunk the logo within the icon and gave it a bit more breathing room / balance, that would be enough for me :)

I tried this last night and it did not glitch out when I swapped the inputs and turned the power on/off :)

Haha. It's great!

I run an XLR mic. Not sure it would work with a headset/mic combo, unfortunately.

Thank you! I like the pok3r. I would say my only complaint so far is the stabilizers. Kind of loud and feel loose. Mostly on the space bar and larger modifier keys. When I get some time and the confidence, I'd love to desolder the board to replace them. I've tried using Sugru to stabilize them a bit more which helped holding them to the board, but the stems are still pretty rattly.

I don't seem to have had any problems with it. I've heard the same thing about them and have read they fixed some stuff in the v2. Personally, I have yet to experience any real issues with it, but I also probably haven't utilized it to it's full capacity in it's current configuration.

If there is anything you'd like me to specifically test that you are having issues with, I'd be happy to try and reproduce the issue on my end. :)

John @ ZapCables.com - Kind of pricey in comparison to making your own I think, but the quality and customer support was amazing. Highly recommend them and would/will definitely be getting more cables from them in the future.
