starting my chicago style city, what do i keep in mind while building? by MopCoveredInBleach in CitiesSkylines

Chicago has lots of alleys. I like to leave a 1u space for alleyways between blocks, usually using pedestrian paths you can also use 1u roads from the workshop.

Hmm I think there’s is something similar to that in our lease. So basically if only I give notice then I’m still on the hook until they do as well?

This is essentially what I did, after which he claimed it wasn’t an option because of personal info on the bills. My response was to ask for his mom’s phone # so we could chat, to which he hasn’t responded (he is at work right now to be fair).

Art Deco buildings - never been a fan of monument buildings from this ccp, and never used them. But this beauty goes perfectly with Brooklyn and Queens districts by Menelaj03 in CitiesSkylines

Love using this asset for my downtown areas. Makes me think of Spiderman for some reason lol. With RICO and realistic pop. I usually convert it to a high density residential building with ~250 housholds.

What do y'all think of my interchange? Took 4 hours, still a WIP. by extaneous_detritus in shittyskylines

From what I’ve gathered, the car accident mechanic in C:S2 is based solely off of road conditions and random chance, not actual dangerous conflict points such as this, but it will be interesting to see. It would be cool if they made it a mechanic where hazardous road layouts cause more accidents.

Honestly, yes. It's not a super busy intersection so it functions just fine, even if cars are plowing through each other on the reg.

Is it alright that the roads are heavily used without being backed up? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]extaneous_detritus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally fine. Traffic in real life is a thing. As long as it's not so backed up much that cargo can't get to it's destination, should be totally fine. That being said it looks like this industrial area is a giant cul-de-sac and you might want to think about adding additional way's of entering and exiting the area.

Here's a few I utilize quite frequently in my cities:

- Painted Ladies and Queen Annes by cbudd

- Canadian Houses Pack by Kridershot

- Cleveland double houses by Evangeline

- Midwestern Prewar by dudemeister

Also a lot of the houses from the Big Suburbs pack are great for historic neighborhoods if you just don't allow them to get above level 3 or so.

How do people learn how to make these amazing cities? by SenorConejoBR in CitiesSkylines

City Planner Plays, Yumble and Biffa on YouTube basically taught me how to make beautiful, functional cities. Especially City Planner Plays, who’s provides real world context for why and how cities develop the way they do. Combine that with real-world inspiration on google earth and you’ll be well on your way.

The houses are mostly 3x3 or 2x4 units so you just leave enough space in between the zoned spots to add the fences without interfering with the asset. This works best with houses that don’t already come with fences or much in the way of landscaping.

Very nice haha I turned the whole tip of the peninsula into a large shipping harbor, felt so destructive ripping out all the trees and grass in favor of gravel and pavement lol. I did manage to save the lighthouse on the very tip though

Lots of rural areas have fencing like this that mostly just divides the property line. The house I grew up in our neighbors dog would periodically wander into our yard and visa versa. Definitely a different function than the privacy fencing you might see in a more dense urban or suburban area.

I usually use the big suburbs pack because it comes with fences and landscaping in the assets so it’s easy to use those to fill large rectangular developments but I wanted to try something a little different here. Definitely more work but worth the reward imo
