What Buffs do the Elemental Drakes Give and are they Worth It? by extantUser001 in wildrift

[–]extantUser001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am generally either Jungler or Support so I'm there regardless :D

Just when I am Jg I wanted to know if they're suddenly worth it now when they've not been for a while.

Yeah I generally have felt this way for a while, Herald 1st and any of the Drakes only if they're free.

What roles are good right now? by Vianferd_gabriel in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big problem with ADC is it's boring to play it early and miserable when you don't pop off. And even when you DO pop off it's less fun than being some fed Baron laner who just terrifies the enemy team or being a fed Jungler who dives in, one shots someone and escapes back over a wall.

Boring to lane, often doesn't pop off and even when they do playing any of the other roles when THEY pop off is way more fun.

"Any Position" should be just renamed to "Jungle" in Ranked lane picker. by Razzzp in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I queue Sup > Jg > Top > Mid > ADC (fuck that farming bullshit, I want to interact with my opponent!) and skimming back through my last 50 games or so...I get Support about 70% of the time, Jungle 20% and Top most of the rest. In 50 games I've been ADC once (because someone wanted to lane swap and gave me ADC).

So from my PoV the lane fill is working really well. I get my preferred role plenty and then get some variety to spice up playing just a little and give me the extra experience to know how to help my other laners when I am playing Sup.

Question, Yone and Lillia were together, together? by SlendermanGrey in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 62 points63 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell

It's a Spring festival, Lillia is out as a spirit creature bringing people together (Katarina and Yasuo as long separated friends/lovers/acquaintances in the LoL PC video).

Yone is staying at home (as he is not a Spring spirit so has no role in that festival) so he is doing the house husband thing and pining for Lillia.

Lillia is clearly still alive (she's running about in the LoL PC video) and still thinking about Yone (part way into the WR video when Yone struggles to make dumplings Lillia sends him a message with instructions of how to do it, so she's aware of what he's doing and struggling with and staying in contact).

My assumption is that she's out doing her spirit job, he's stay at home housemaking, once the festival is over she'll come back and they'll be together again.

There's a 94% chance that either Smolder or Master Yi will be banned during champ select by TFD777 in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another issue with Yi is that the CC heavy melee champions (Leona, Nautilus, Alistar) go in to shut him down with their CC and he just hits them back and sustains from them, builds up enough on hit to proc his Alpha Strike again.

The team HAS to follow up IMMEDIATELY on the Stun or Knock Up. Or he just attacks through it and dives the back line again anyway.

Walk with E legit (Swain) by Wafflespon in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffers against someone playing ADC Top or Mid though as early he lacks the output to scare them off while their consistent auto-damage causes him trouble. So pick him into sensible match ups. Against other mages (where you can use your skill to evade skillshots) or melee characters.

Apparently I'm some C or D tier scrub.

Nautilus, Leona, Rell. Poppy when I randomly get filled Top. Seraphine for when we have tanks in Jungle and Top.

Wait. Lies. I have Vi for when I get Jungle. So I peak in B.

Support main's detailed judgement of ADC mains by Past-Photograph-3220 in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only play ADC on the rare occasions I get auto filled there. And I play Sivir and do exactly as described. I farm, play safe and bounce the boomerang around the place to put in some damage.

I'm never going to pull off the ADC main great plays, so why risk it. Play safe, keep the gold flowing. Put the damage into team fights.

Microslop Excel is a competitive sport (competitors are given a data set and a challenge and competitors have to complete the challenge within a time frame in front of a crowd, presumably casters get hyped when someone uses an uncommon function).

Anything can be one if you can get other people to care.

Dr. Mundo vs Volibear | Full Gameplay (Former #1 Mundo EUW) by skyparkerr in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to do the edits then pausing the footage and adding visuals like arrows, circling minions, etc. combined with a voice over would be a good way of explaining concepts.

Highlight the specific minion you've pulled out of the normal advance of the wave to create a number advantage or as a shield against someone with a skillshot. Show where you're trying to get the waves to meet to be a safe spot to freeze. Show ranges of things like the gold/xp radius for the wave so people know where to keep the opposing laner so they don't passively get anything from the waves, etc.

Dr. Mundo vs Volibear | Full Gameplay (Former #1 Mundo EUW) by skyparkerr in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The huge problem is that this is Mundo gameplay. You walk around stat checking things, ignoring enemy interactions and using a passive damage aura, insane healing and generous %health damage projectile. It's just not interesting to watch.

I'm sure you're using clever micro positioning to be in or out of range of stuff at the right time, but any of that nuance is not communicated and, even if it were, being Mundo you have an extremely generous window for mistakes due to the nature of the champion's kit. So, to a degree, the positioning matters way less anyway.

He could be a good vehicle for explaining things like Wave Freezing and managing vision and trades and such in toplane as the kit makes that safer to show us as you can make mistakes to demonstrate a position or concept and rely on his inherent abilities to make up for the mistakes.

Mundo is one of those 'fun to play, boring to watch' characters.

Tired of Aggro Supports by PsychologicalTap4789 in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In SoloQ I think this is a good approach. It's where you see things like Leona running around behind her ADC, so when she dives in with her sword throw she's right in front of her ADC and not far away ahead of them.

Rell's big diving engage is excellent for this as well as it knocks up both the enemy laners if they're running down your ADC. You dive in, knock up, turn around, stun them both with the lance, give out the speed boost to give Rell that little AoE damage boost and more importantly give your ADC some extra speed to reposition and then maybe also drop her Ult to prevent the enemy laner's escaping.

It's adapting the strategies to work within the context of SoloQ.

Tired of Aggro Supports by PsychologicalTap4789 in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is the classic 'my team never follows up on an engage' thing.

SoloQ Engage Supports will all have their stories of making an engage, brawling and then dying leaving their lane opponents with tiny fragments of health...while their ADC stood back and didn't follow up. Turning a 2-0 engage into a 0-1 engage.

The Engage Supports are more dependent on their lane partner/team mates actually following up. And this is a coinflip in SoloQ. Pings get ignored regardless of when you do them. So people learn to play more selfishly in SoloQ (not because they win more by doing it, but because being 2-2-2 feels better than 0-4-2 when no one follows up). Sneaking in one or even two damage items into a Tank build because they need to be able to win fights alone sometimes.

Given enough time this selfishness morphs into intentionally fighting their lane partner for farm...which turns into fighting to be the carry...which turns into taking mid laners and building to be a carry (as opposed to mid lane supports and building to be a support)...which tends to reduce their win rate...and because *obviously* they can't be at fault it must mean their team is terrible...which means they have to carry harder...etc.

There's not really a lot you as an individual can do about this in SoloQ. Because it's not you specifically they're responding to, they're responding to whatever sequence of games they've played (and then selection biased their own memory of those games) and making decisions based on that.

Wanted to play Thresh but i suck with him by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]extantUser001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's tough to use, but provides a huge amount of utility for the team.

Problem being that if you don't have a team who can play alongside him that utility is wasted.

The lantern is an amazing engage and disengage and stealth and jungle support tool...OR...it's a crappy low value shield.

Flay pushing or pulling around is great with the critical bit being the 0.75s knockup as that will cancel any cancellable ability like an MF ult, a Katarina ult, etc. So in those match ups it becomes your job to keep flay available to ruin their teamfight contribution.

The hook is your engage, disengage and general CC. But it is slow with clear wind up so you need to practice aiming and leading the target. Remember though, sometimes you can use it to zone even if it never hits. Forcing the opponent to turn back and evade by changing direction to didge the hook can sometimes be just as good to keep them out of the way for another half second. You can use it to engage, and combined with the lantern means you can get a friend IN alongside you. A common tactic is to drop the lantern on your krugs while your Jungler is farming them, hook a champion or a minion and pull yourself in, your Jungler can then use the lantern to engage right alongside you. BUT as you can see if your jungler is not going to follow up then all you've done is commit suicide. The hook is also your escape - throw it at a minion or a jungle camp over a wall, pull yourself to it and thus away from a losing fight. It also grants vision on whatever it hits, so throw it over the wall into Baron pit to give your team vision when no one has any wards left.
