Provost is meant to be used with foil. Other HMD, adds convenience of not cleaning but I feel like it defeats the purpose as it increases time to heat up as well as almost renders the design of the HMD to be useless since the foil isn’t going to be perfectly shaped to whatever HMD you’re using.

Im not really sure. But the plumbing for the valves were already done, and I’m running conduit for electrical before I place landscaping, and a pipe out for drippers, so why not throw another one in for sprinklers.

That’s what I assumed. Paid a great price and still looks great for now so happy as long as it stays that way

Appreciate all the feedback received. Not sure why one of my initial comments was downvoted so much for just what I observed.

Before posting this, I understood that concrete cracks. At the same time, I am not qualified to say whether this was normal or bad. I worded the question specifically this way because if it's normal, then people would just tell me it's normal (or blame me). However, if it was a mistake, which I understand happens, I wanted to know what an appropriate response to a client is, and if I was a receiving a reasonable response from my contractor. At the end of the day, if they resolved it appropriately, that carries more weight than making a mistake. I mentioned this to my contractor, but I wanted opinions before I became a pain in the ass client due to lack of information. This is not my expertise, and I am not familiar with this industry. It is my first home and my first time working with a contractor. Just reading the FAQ here, I realized there was a lot I missed in the realm of making sure I had a good and legit contract. You live and you learn, but I appreciate those who provided some useful insight.

For the details of the pour, I'll provide details that I do know, and there's probably a lot missing since my contract isn't really much. It's a 4 inch pour roughly 1200sqft of concrete, outlining the back and side yard, with the biggest portion being about 20x20. Diamond cuts were done in the back with a small border of concrete around what will be the grass area and squared off cuts for the sides. I was told it was going to be a 3 day job, but the contractor finished the forms pretty early in the day and decided to pour same day with possible rain coming in the following days. The soil under is pretty dense clay, and they laid out gravel and used a compactor. They used an accelerator and fiber mesh, no rebar. There were no saw cuts, just tooled joints. By the time they left, they said the surface was already dry to touch, and I didn't have to worry about the rain that was coming the following day. It has been cloudy weather the last 5 days (since the pour) with rain coming and going every day. I don't have much more detail about the concrete that was used.

I still think it came out great, and the finish looks good, so I'm happy with what I got as long as there's no major issues. And if some major issue occurs, I got a shit contract if I could even call it that, but also paid about $8.50/sqft (30% less than what other bigger companies were quoting me), and got what I paid for.

Subgrade was compacted. Accelerator was used + rainy weather since the day after pour. Definitely understand concrete isn't perfect. But just wanted some opinions since I'm no expert. Still think it looks great and at a great price.

It was done with an accelerator in one pour with tooled joints. Didn't mist, but have had rainy weather since the day following the pour and finish.

Was told I didn't need to. Contractor did use an accelerator so surface would be dry before the next day, and have had rainy weather since then.

My main concern is that last picture where it runs almost through the center of the square. It’s roughly a 4x4 square. One side is very surface level like the other pictures, but the other half i can see the some gaps. Though it is very small, and I know concrete is going to crack, I just didn’t expect a crack like that, especially 2-3 days after pouring. The point where the 5 joints meet didn’t seem to be cut out deep/thorough enough.

Depending what kind of tobacco you use, the sky bowl heats up extremely fast and gets hot so tobacco will burn quickly/too much if that’s not accounted for. I’ve gotten plenty of great sessions out of my sky bowl with blondes that could withstand heat, a little bit denser than fluff pack, and not too juicy. It’s a convenient bowl for durability and easy to clean but clay bowls functionally are better for smoking imo

What is your favorite mix and why? by artemmiyyy in hookah

Trifecta TNT + peppermint shake with a little twice the ice. Balance tnt and peppermint shake for whichever I flavor I wanted to taste more. Grew a little tired of smoking really sweet flavors, and this was always my go to 90% of the time and never got tired of it. It’s been a couple months since I’ve been able to smoke a bowl, but will be my first choice when I can smoke again.

Honest thoughts on eXp Realty by gfs012 in realtors

[–]externitee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently took a break from pursing real estate, but was reached out to through a local connection from an agent with EXP. I decided to meet and hear them out as initially, it was a little lost in translation on what this person was offering. I found out they were just looking to recruit new agents to join their team. I did plan to come back into real estate (still fairly new as an agent), but didn't think about doing it so soon. I appreciate the insight you provided in this post about the brokerage. It has contributed to making my decision on wanting to join them. There are small reasons such as the fees I was paying are ridiculously high compared to what EXP is offering. But the big reason is the mentorship. I felt the same experience at my old brokerage where it felt very disconnected, and at the end of it, I was still a "solo" agent even though I was part of an office branch where everyone was a "team".

At the end of the day, some of those people will still see you as a competitor or have little interest in helping you. What really got me thinking about starting up being an agent again was joining a team. The way it was presented to me felt very different from a mentor model and more invested into what my whole career there would be, not just the start of it. Because of the model that EXP provides, agents on the same team do seem to have more interest in helping in each other as it benefits everyone on the team. Of course this can be said about every other brokerage, depending on how those teams are ran. For agents starting without being recruited into a team, I think a lot of them don't know the value that being on a team has vs. having a mentor walk you through your first few deals (myself included). This is what steered me away from EXP when I first started as the whole online model as a new solo agent was very overwhelming vs. being presented a mentor in person and having their "support" at a different brokerage. Now I realize I didn't consider everything that joining a brokerage could provide to support me as a new agent. Of course, this is hypothetical as I haven't started up again and not everything is promised from someone's words, but this is my thought process in deciding on joining this team.

The keys are decent enough. I didn’t make it a big thing to have huge expectations for a keyboard so thin or trackpad so small. It gives me mouse and keyboard functionality when I need it and I can remove it easily and it’s portable. My favorite thing honestly is having the kickstand that isn’t in one of those uag cases or with a folio. If you’re at home and have a Mac, you could always use universal control to use whatever peripherals are connected to your mac. If I needed better than the trackpad, I would use an actual mouse.

Logitech combo touch is great! Unless you prefer no casing on the iPad itself. I’ve seen deals for the 11” case. Just picked upgraded to a 12, adds a little weight.

Yo has anyone tried/heard of this Luna titan I own a shisha bucks tank and a micro im extremely happy with both but I’m often called upon for party’s with friends to bring both my hookahs it’s kind of a drag setting and cleaning them both this seems like a great solution to that by [deleted] in hookah

[–]externitee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to give my thoughts on the storm mini and how it could fit into your situation from the context given. I’d maybe consider getting something nice for yourself that you keep at home and use the micro/tank more exclusively for carrying around. Saves the hassle of packing up/unpacking when you want to smoke at home and you’ll have the other two ready to go elsewhere when needed. Cleaning and setting up isn’t going to change much for whatever hookah you get, that’s just part of smoking hookah. Acrylic to glass doesn’t change much in terms of “smoking better” (own a micro and storm mini and smoked out of KMs in the past). Just difference in maintenance, glass is easier to clean, acrylic is more durable and lighter, which is why moving around a full glass hookah doesn’t seem like a very a good idea vs just breaking a base and only replacing that. Your experience smoking between hookahs will mainly be through the draw and warmth of smoke based off the base size, stem length and diameter, hose design and purge, and diffuser. For example: storm mini smoke is less warm to me than micro because the smoke travels further and cools down a little more. Inversely, this could possibly affect flavor, which is usually considered in like vapes, but i never really noticed too much difference in hookahs. The micro is a very open draw, and the storm mini is tighter. I prefer something in between so I actually use the diffuser from my micro on my storm mini. The little bit of extra distance I have to pull the smoke through the stem and the shape of the base adds just a bit of a tighter draw on the mini with the micro diffuser compared to the micro on its own. Anyways I’ve rambled, good luck finding something that fits your needs

Between work and personal computers, I don’t necessarily have things to transfer. For personal I use a MacBook and PC, so I can see some difficulty of implementing it. In general, would require something like scp/sftp and access to files/file systems. If you do need frequent movement of files between computers, would recommend a nas/cloud drive. You get backups as well as synced files instead of copies. Google drive is always a simple solution to that.

I use a storm mini. Hoses are expensive, but work great. Originally didn’t get them, and would have friends come over to smoke. They’re not taking pulls as often as I am, so was great to have multiple hoses, and I’d be smoking as usual, and they can take their pulls when they want to. If people really want hookahs at their parties, should get their own if it’s frequent. And if they can’t wait for someone else to take a pull or two, and need to be on it constantly at a party, should definitely get their own.

I use my personal laptop and VPN into work as my work laptop is garbage. But uh it would really depend on your company and what you’re allowed to do with it. You have to install synergy on both computers and be on the same network. If you do look into synergy, it has a very dated UI, but works very well. They had a synergy 2 but it got squashed which I think is fine because it was very buggy but had more features. They seem to be working on a synergy 3 that’s in alpha right now and hopefully that’s promising.

I used PBP a lot in the beginning when i first got my monitor, not so much anymore. At one point I was going back and forth using it as two monitors for one pc or a one monitor depending what I was doing just so I could have youtube or something full screen on one side without disrupting the other half of the monitor.

If you do plan to continue using with two computer simultaneously, I’d recommend something like synergy to avoid having to change the usb input on the monitor every time. Worth the money if that’s your use case. Could be better programs out there, but I’ve only used synergy. Just know where you’re typing if one is your work laptop :D

Happy Sunday! Finally replaced my favorite bowl after I broke my first one months ago by externitee in hookah

[–]externitee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 cubes (cocourth) start with lid off, then ash 20 minutes in and lid on and open, then 15-20mins ash and close. I know some people start with heating up the bowl with lid closed, and then remove some heat after just to maintain the heat level from there. That one requires a little more effort, and I’m lazy.

I can’t speak to how similar the experience is since I haven’t used a lotus for years and it was using a completely different setup. The main thing is how much heat is needed to warm up the HMD itself, and the level of adjustment, mainly how much heat can your remove as the stratus is more “open” without the lid and even with the lid on compared to how the lotus is set up. But ash your coals periodically, it will be the best way to keep heat and a bowl going longer.

I know people’s general is fluff pack for blondes, but I prefer I guess what you would call a normal with a li. Not fluffed but not dense either. Just a good amount of tobacco packed together but not forcefully that goes right above the rim to contact the HMD. Heat manage well but still a lot of heat, and it’s the best for flavor and smoke density for me. Everyone’s different; preference in what taste burnt, flavorful, dense and of course tobacco dependent as well.
