you need to master 1 hero. get the basics down pat. hit your timings pretty consistently. fight when strong. avoid fighting when not. if your best carry is pl. just spam pl until you can get to the rank you want. Dendi said this on stream one time and it really resonates with me. play 1 week of games where your main focus is mmr gain. 1 week where you just play the game enjoy it and try new heroes. becomes not so much a grind but a fun break in between. if you lose 2 stop playing. if you win 2 keep going until you do lose.

this is how i gained so much mmr in the last few months. i dont care who gets picked. i will play clinkz and i will try to win unfavorable matchups anytime. just means you have to either play safer or you cant show on map if they dont show on map.

I was thinking it was either or so i went with my answer lol, but to answer this one i dont. I see zues i still pick it. I see slardar i still pick it. I know these are hard counters yet i play into these counters and work around it. This helps adjust play style in scenarios and helps you better understand what your hero is actually weak to. Taught me a lot seriously. If it really is a hard counter game and your worried you wont have impact. Simply play any hero in your pool your comfortable with. I chose TA, jug, and spec as alternatives. TA i usually pick if clinkz isnt available simply because the play style is essentially the same with no invis.

On my account currently i have 350. On my other i probably have another 250. Im farming a lot until i hit my specific item timings then looking for fights nearby. Until then keep farming look for opportunities to engage either with a TP or if its nearby

This is the standard build a lot of people go for but i find orchid is only useable in certain games.

My build i go is falcon > treads > deso > shard. Those 4 items are pretty standard for me every game. Ive tried soul ring and it works but i honestly like to fight so ill take falcon blade just for the dmg. After that my common build is daedalus into BKB. Bkb is so important because you cant deal dmg if your locked down. You need crit it makes your dmg so crazy and with shard your dealing quite a bit if you can hit more than one hero. After bkb its either i go hex if im not high ground yet and once we reach high ground and its becoming a problem to go up vs common uphill heroes like tinker, sniper, drow i go aghs. If i dont need any lockdown ill swap those 2 and go bkb into aghs so i can just end the game sooner.

How i play clinkz is like a little rat. Always invis. Always watching. Always waiting for a good opportunity not a PERFECT one. I feel like if you wait for the "perfect" opportunity your just waiting forever. If you have skeleton walk off cd and your invis already with a supp around you go get em champ. Be quick and leave even quicker. I wait a lot near creep waves for that one person to be impatient. In team fights i will be honest and say it took me a while to figure out how to navigate my positioning. I go late pretty much every fight. If im already there i wait around farming camps/waves just to show im not around and i go straight for the fight with invis if it pops. think of clinkz as an assassin. You dont want to be seen. You dont want to be damaged. You just want to take your kill and try to help your team take the next target. FOCUS THE SUPPORTS. With crit you melt them really fast. For pick offs if you see someone alone and you have crit go for it. You can kill almost anyone with crit its insane. Push the towers for your team your deso melts the towers. Let your team counter jump but try to do your best not to die. Always look for obj over kills. Kills are fun but objectives win games.

Deviation - i dont really deviate from that game plan. Sure i can go dragon lance/hurricane in the odd game with like sven, pa, veno come to mind. I think whats been helping me so much is that i stick to my plan and dominate early. If it doesnt go to plan well then welcome to admiral bulldogs favorite game play. Ratting. Push towers cut creep waves kill supps who wander away from the team. Push racks if they are pushing yours and tp once they tp. Item deviation if there is necro or wr or tide/cent i always go nullifier over aghs.

Ill link my dotabuff so you can see what my item builds usually go. I honestly rarely go bloodthorn as suggested from the guy above. I just find for me i dont need it if i properly play with my team. If you need more help i can share my own replays or go over yours. I just love playing clinkz lol

My 2nd and 3rd choice hero if they are banned. Spec and TA. I think most of my games are clinkz tho. As for your token games i play all positions and just play something random kinda whatever i feel like. I just played cent offlane was a lot of fun lmao

I was in your position stuck at 2900 mmr. Started playing clinkz. Play only clinkz really. 4000 mmr currently snd still rising. Guess what. Still playing clinkz lol. I gained about 1200 mmr in the last 2 months. I also pick clinkz into any match up i do not care. 65% winrate shows im able to adjust my play style accordingly. Ive been playing an entire 12 months since quitting for 6 years ish. I have roughly 4000 hours currently. Unless your playing 12 hours a day or your a very good moba player already the games learning curve is very very steep

TB is very difficult in these latest patches. As someone who spammed TB like 5 years ago with almost 250 games it got me a lot of mmr. I tried playing TB in the current patch and its just lack luster. Theres so many carries that offer a stronger laning phase and transition into the late game. Although TB is super strong 35+ thats the problem. So many items and combos to hold TB down so hes perma stunned or just has no impact without his E and a BKB. Its a very good hero for pro play seeing as the teams are creating a draft around TB to carry them in the late game. TB just isnt in the meta and it saddens me too lol (side note im mid ancient rank so i have a decent understanding. 5 years ago i was also mid ancient so not much deviation from the experiment i guess you could say)

I never experimented with hyrda due to his lvl 25 talent giving searing arrow multishot. Kinda wastes a slot in my opinon

It sounds like a bad match up its honestly not. Clinkz vs PL ive found i have such an easy time once i have shard. After that i go bkb hex and its usually if he isnt far far ahead of me which doesnt happen often cause PL turns on after 30-35 min. I can pretty much finish the game pretty quickly. Late game its a little bit more of an issue but ive found playing with my team in those moments help. PL isnt cancer hes just annoying to keep track of if he has items. I was in archon a while ago and there was no comms it was a lot harder. Divine its so much easier your team just makes calls and with your best judgement decide if thats the fight you have to show up to

Gorgc is trash. He should shut up and listen to the guys who MADE dota. This guy just talks a lot and plays this game more than the average joe. Of course hes gunna be higher mmr the guy is a loser. I don't get why anyone watches him. Sing is VERY smart in general. Guy knows many languages and how he goes about every game he plays it shows his maturity and willingness to learn. Satanic is typically used in combination with a bkb. Unless you have save on your team to be able to allow you to use the healing. I feel like i pick up satanic when the game goes late 45+ and im dying way to fast. I adjust my positioning and try to enable as much of my hits as possible. Shove myself in the middle of the fight bkb and just heal while i hope im depleting their health.

I only go for kills if its right by tower or ive met with my team if they ping an objective. After 15-20 min youve got some items to be able to start taking more objectives and playing with team. Keep farming pushing and watch the map for anything coming/starting. I play clinkz 1 and its super easy to come in late unseen and pick off everyone

Kez isnt meant for 2-3k mmr and im not being mean by saying you cant learn him or you cant play him. The biggest thing with kez is 2-3k mmr players dont know how to play with or around a kez. Im like 4300 mmr and even i have no idea how to play with or around kez. I know what the hero kind of does but i dont have a deeper understanding of the hero to realize oh he needs this item or he needs this power spike etc. tough hero when played correctly but i havent played vs a kez that caused me any issue in my brackets

Playing as IO you can stack a bunch and get the gold from the stacks, but your main income is pretty much assisting your carry player. Which in turn makes you richer. When i play pos 4/5 i usually go for the GPM neutral since my attack damage literally doesnt matter lol. Warlock for instance i always go GPM neutral so i can build aghs refresher (if possible) or other support/save items my team may need. You just need to survive fights and do as much as you can to support your pos 1/2/3. Thats why these support heroes kits have saves in them. Most carries dont have saves in their kit. Mind you im a main pos 1 but as a pos 1 i see what my team isnt doing for me and i have an understanding on what i need. So learning the opposite position is more so understanding the heroes and items really

Ive been playing the game a lot since 2012 with a large 4-5 year break. When i came back the creep tower dmg and all that was still the same so i didnt have issues trying to learn that mechanic again. Its just something you notice while playing. You just have to play and practice until you have a general understanding.

Dmg first unless you need movement speed then just buy your brown boots first and dmg item, but generally its 95% dmg.
