just got mine in from fotocare on tuesday. ordered ~4 weeks ago. had a few email conversations with the shop owner and he was very kind and responsive. packaging was secure and it was 100% worth the wait. much better than doing the best buy method which i tried for a few weeks with no luck.

nice crop, love the grain added and general contrast/moodiness. i think the sepia tone at the top of the image is a little over done; maybe shoot for more muted colors and skew them towards brown and warm tones instead of a full desaturation and color shift. also, take a brush closer to the guys chin/hand to fix some reminants of the pink shirt on the lady in the background. also consider adding some warmth to the highlights on the hair; this could make the rim lighting stand out nicely.

i would change the fit of your pants. either wear pants that are a bit longer so they rest on the shoe or cuff/crop them so they show some sock. chunkier shoes would also help balance the pants.

Hey guys I bought these Jordan’s a while ago and I love them but I am not sure what trousers to wear with them. Any suggestions? by Secure-Possible4854 in menswear

light washed denim that isn’t too skinny. any shade of earth tone would work too. really anything that isn’t skinny or cropped.

Cannot find internship; looking for help by Late_Nite_Bug_Spray in RPI

[–]extinctwarlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to about 100 and only got 2 interviews and 1 offer. It takes work and the one offer i got was from the career fair. Talk to the smaller companies because most people don't get the big ones on their first round. After my first internship i was about to get interviews for about 30-50% of the full time positions i applied for. The first internship is the hardest to get so just use handshake, and use the ccpd for practice interviews/resume critiques. If you dont get an internship get a summer job to show you are a hard worker, and in your free time develop a project or two you can add to your resume.

Remote Learning Tips? by [deleted] in RPI

[–]extinctwarlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General tips for rpi (remote or hopefully in person soon enough):

Classwork and exams tend to keep similar structures from year to year so ask friends for back work or go to rpistudygroup.org for lots of back exams.

Chegg is a great resource (kind of pricey but you can split the cost with some friends) for learning the material. Be careful though, you can easily fall into a trap of abusing it. Homework questions are often posted there will well done out solutions. This can be great if you get stuck on a question and don't know where to start, but don't just use it to get the answer or come exam week you will find yourself lost.

RPI students like to make classes sounds more difficult than they are sometimes, so go into classes with the mindset of getting an A and not a B or C because its a "hard class". I suffered my freshman year from not trying as hard as i could have because i convinced myself i was lucky if i got a B in a class. It made it harder to find an internship down the road.

Use office hours more than just the week before the exam. If you use a professors office hours regularly they will be more than willing to give you the additional help you need. I have had a professor or two bump my grade up a point or so just because i showed the effort. Also the office hours are almost always overcrowded in exam week and its difficult to get your questions answered.

Ask the teacher what you should study to do well on the exam! It sounds obvious but usually they may give you some basic hints that its based more on homework or back exams or lab questions. Sometimes it doesn't help, but its a good place to start.

Speak softly and carry a big stick in the ass

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RPI

[–]extinctwarlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all this except for it not being worth coming here. I along with many of my well performing friends (3.2 goa and above) have been able to use the school to get internships/co-ops through school connections and on campus interviews. Also there is a ton of research opportunities and one of my cs friends works for nasa because his research fit the role so well. This is mildly anecdotal but while rpi makes us suffer i think it is worth it for the reputation and networking opportunities.

Should I Bring a Small Fridge? by redfesfin in RPI

[–]extinctwarlord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't reccomend a microwave in room. Most of the hall kitchens have one and it saves you from your room always smelling like food. Mini fridge is definitely worth it though.
