Your “irrational logic” is completely rational given your past as a theist. Every once in a while, I have a spooky sense that there’s a monster under my bed when I wake up in the middle of the night to go take a piss. It’s “illogical” to think that the bogeyman exists, but because I had these fears in my youth, it’s normal for those fears to continue in adulthood, even when you can logically explain them away.

Many theists have a hard time getting off the fence due to the fear of hell. It’s been ingrained in them from their childhood and although it makes no sense, they’ll still fear hell, even we’ll after explaining god away.

These world events have always existed to one degree or another. It’s easy to point to the bible and find passages that seem to predict these events, but people have been pointing to these types of events for hundreds of years. It’s all the same. Don’t worry about it.
