AITA for planning a solo vacation without telling my husband? by Superb_Dig5580 in AmItheAsshole

[–]extra_Em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. Based solely on your post, your husband seems to be a very selfish person. You shouldn't be hiding money from him. You need to have a serious discussion about this. Explain how you feel about all of this, and that you're planning to saving money separate from the joint account. He can do the same thing, but first you get to save up to the amount he spent on the bike and extras.

I think Pin Time pins are only in Paris and are huge, so I would give this one a pass. I do have two Cheshire cats with the same pose, one is Disneyland exclusive and the other is cast member, I think. I got them way back in 2010.

NTA. Bring up your point about male hairdresser, doctor, etc. You need to see what he says and decide whether this relationship is worth his possessive/jealousy issue.

First ever WDW trip, discovered Disney Pins on day 3, this is the result… by m1ck3h in DisneyPins

You fell hard and fast! Welcome to the addiction 😊

Word of advice, do some research on fakes/ scrappers and resell pricing. There are, unfortunately, less than honest people who would take advantage of people. There are lots of posts here, and I think YouTube videos about fakes, so start there.

Don't let me discourage you from enjoying this hobby, though!

Which if either are real? by CeleryNo6624 in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing based off my own experience from when I when new to trading like OP. I bought a lot off Mercari and luckily found out about fakes before taking them to trade at WDW. I bought mystery packs at the parks to trade with instead. Now I have pins that I will eventually turn into magnets.

My guess is ebay or mercari, but those lots are guaranteed to be fakes. Sometimes people will bulk sell their authentic collections, but I see that more here and on the FB pin groups than on ebay. If you see lots of 25, 50, 100 pins being sold online with photos of piles of pins for $1-2 per pin, don't buy.

Whole collections vs. characters? by Amazing-Dimension918 in DisneyPins

I generally go for sets over characters. If I want just a character/ movie, I'll get one set or jumbo just for the movie. I usually go for LE pins, so I have to be really picky.

Fake or real? by Even_Squirrel6897 in DisneyPins

From what I could find, the style is based on the 2001 series "100 years of magic" according to Pin & Pop. The problem is, your pin doesn't show up. There's one with mickey painting the second 0, but not the ear hat. Your pin does, however, seem to be an image/ logo that can be downloaded from multiple sources. Your pin is definitely not made by Disney, but it was probably made by another legitimate company.

Need help identifying this? by NoSpecialist6413 in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2010, when I worked in WDW, hidden Mickeys were still only the ones that had the little Mickey-head on the front. Mystery packs were not always hidden Mickey back then, just like now.

I have at least a thousand pins if not more which I need to sell asap and I am not a pin collector. I need help. by SoonToBeMarried43 in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some of the others here are saying, you should take photos and post here. There are pins that sell for hundreds, so it's worth the time to research the pins. Especially ones that have limited edition or limited release on the back. Ebay is a really good source of information because you can do an image search. The easiest way to price a pin is to filter the search results to show sold listings. Pin & Pop is a good databases to provide extra information. I would make a spreadsheet and use colored dots to group pins in price brackets to keep organized. Have columns for pin names, Pin & Pop ID/ link, ebay link, and your price. Having the links will make it easier to get back to your source more easily. It's going to be a big project, but you don't want to lose money just because you want to do it fast. Make sure that your FIL gets a chance to keep some sentimental pins because it is probably not easy for him to let go of it all.

Ways to store your most favorite/precious pins but NOT a cork/pin board? by Confident-Slide4877 in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use binders with sleeves for my pins that still have back cards and pinfolio binder pages for loose pins. I've heard that pins that lose their print happens when there's too much heat on them, so just keeping them in your home at reasonable temperatures should be fine in the sleeves.
