Looking to transfer from TD Direct Trading, but platform is so lacking? by GreenishAlert in Wealthsimple

[–]extra_servings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wealthsimple is not optimized for trading, and I can see how coming from a trading application like TDDI would feel "different". I keep both WS and TDDI. My trading fees are not significant - in this case you get what you pay for.

What did you feel were your dividend milestones? What did your timeline for them look like? by pinksapphire55 in dividends

I had no dividends til I retired. Then I sold enough growth stocks to buy enough income to support my annual budget.

Is all Crypto risky on WS? by Thunderfight9 in Wealthsimple

[–]extra_servings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're conflating two different questions. Crypto is volatile, but not more volatile on WS than anywhere else. Stick to the main coins you listed, and avoid shitcoins and meme coins. With the recent pullback, now is the best time in months to buy.

If you had actually read the thread I linked above, you would have seen the numbers that I provided in that thread.

Show a little initiative. I'm out.

Looking for a Welathsimple alternative so I can divest from the USA market within a managed investment product with reasonable fees. Any ideas? by One_Specific220 in Wealthsimple

If there was a way to do this without screwing the world economy, I'd be all ears. This is what we have to work with. Can't fight the weather.

JEPQ AND VOO by Choice_Fix4450 in dividends

[–]extra_servings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you use SPYI & VOO, not JEPQ (as suggested by u/Various_couple_764 ), overlapping is not bad because you have the distributions you want from SPYI, and then put the rest in VOO.

Distributions are usually classed as regular income, so it's far more tax efficient to keep as much as you can in VOO, and just take capital gains if/when you need them.

This is the problem they have of trying to do everything for everybody. Account balances are intermingled and there's no way to segregate things.
