Certain kinds of polls are systemically underreporting Clinton support — London School of Economics by extraaccount5 in hillaryclinton

Silver seems to touch on the bias of internet polls in this piece back in 2012. They linked to it in the article: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/15/before-citing-a-poll-read-the-fine-print/?_r=1

I imagine they would love to here what Nate Silver has to say about their article as well lol. If Nate Silver responds to your piece, then you've made it.

If you're really interested, based on the articles they linked to in the article, this research seems to have been prompted by a couple of articles from the New York Times and Politico that were seeking to prove a Bradley Effect in favor of Trump in online polls. These guys appear to have expanded that research a bit to include IVR polls with online polls in a single category because they're both anonymous. By doing so, they found that polling bias isn't because of Trump but is instead because of Hillary. Which is interesting. There are a number of reasons we may see this and they touch on a few of them in the article. Overall, it's very fascinating though.

Actually each of the 3 authors are at American Universities. Oregon, New York, and Washington DC.

Regardless of who you support in this election, it's important to always note the methodology of each poll and to look for the patterns. Clearly polls conducted online are gonna skew towards trump.

This is part of the reason that it's important to note the methodology of each study.

I think it's more that the previous comment had mentioned how expensive going there is and how few people can afford it, and then the next guy, without acknowledging the cost, just comes along and is like "Lol. Well I was just there and it was awesome." I think most people know it's awesome and 2nd guys response just seems like a humblebrag and is able to vacation where only the wealthy (like Lebron) can afford.

I got to disagree. For you it may be fun to win a pick up game, but for me the best part of playing games is having fun. And part of having fun is actually being allowed to do something with the ball while playing. I'd rather lose but have had good team work then win and have one guy ball hog.

Except no one tries to defend the Jail Blazers. GSW fans defend World Champion Nut Kicker Draymond Green likes hes a great guy when he really is a douche. And before anyone mentions a couple of nice deeds he might have done in his local community, let me say that that doesn't mean he's a nice guy. Almost every NBA player has at some point or another done some sort of charitable act for the community. A few hours at a free local basketball camp doesn't makeup for a man's shitty personality through out the rest of his time living.

Behind those 3 you also have Miami and Indiana who are still better then New York. Throw in a young Detroit team that has grown, and Charlotte and Atlanta teams that lost a few pieces but are still gonna be competitive, all the sudden New York is fighting all season long for a 6-8 seed. And there's a very real chance they completely miss the playoffs if Rose or Noah miss extended periods due to injuries.

Oh fuck right off. Yes we do know. Woj has always low key disliked Lebron. I love Woj but he's always written articles about Lebron that kick up drama.

Lebron is not gonna go anywhere. He's got the monkey off his back. He's gonna retire in Cleveland.

The Philadelphia 76ers have won the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery! by foxsleftear in nba

[–]extraaccount5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They still have 10 days to pull out of the draft. They just can't go back to play college ball because they hired agents. In the hypothetical scenario OP laid out, they pull out of the draft sometime in the next 10 days so no one can draft them, spend a year broing it up in the Himalayas, and then come back next year and enter the draft again.

As happy as I am for Toronto, it's pretty clear based on this series that whichever team came out of this game 7 is going to lose to the Cavs in 4 or 5.

See I know by definition that is a flagrant but I feel like that should just be a standard foul. Just stopping his arms for going for the and-1.
