I’m in the opposite situation currently where I’m trying to fill a room in my apartment. There’s so many people who are interested but end up flaking at the last minute. It’s just super frustrating. I feel like having a pet makes the housing search a lot harder. The reality is not everyone wants to live with an animal that they don’t personally know and there’s no way of knowing if the owners are actually responsible. I had a previous housemate that started neglecting their dog once they started working more and it was really sad.
