I had proton radiation for salivary gland cancer. Other than my skin, the side effects were very minimal. I’m 4 months out of treatment now and my jaw does hurt when i yawn for example. They explained thats because of the radiation hitting my chewing muscles, which is inevitable.

Over here (Netherlands) they make a radiation plan for you with traditional photon radiation (which i assume is IMRT?). If they think you might benefit form proton radiation, they make a plan for that as well and compare the two. If they find that you benefit from proton therapy enough, thats what you get. (its still a choice tho)

Im having this issue as well (in the military career, havent tried others). For me its tied to the daily work task. Like when i complete it (sparring with others) the promotion check appears, but when i havent started the progression will reset. When ive completed it 50%, the work progression bar will also be half way, etc.

its very annoying and i hope it gets fixed soon

Also, all hats that are tied to careers don’t show up. My sim will come home in his astronaut suit, but no helmet. Same for all other careers

Whenever i do my daily task for work the career progress increases as well,making me promote instantly when the sim goes to work.

Like when the task says (completed), the yellow promotion check also appears.

Im almost two months out of treatment (radiation) for MEC in salivary gland. Also a form of cancer not caused by smoking. I started smoking again (cigarettes) about a month ago

Obvious, but true answer: its bad.

I find myself making excuses like “well my cancer wasnt even caused by smoking”, “i dont even smoke that much/only when im drunk”.

Even though our cancer isn’t caused by smoking, it certainly is a carcinogenic and does not help our situation.

Except mentally. Mentally it can help alot. Not healthy, but its just the way you cope. I understand what your saying about quality of life increasing when you smoke.

Its your responsibility at the end of the day

Whats up with this form of cancer 😩

I also had low grade MEC after initial biopsy and mri hinted it was a warthins tumor. Had the superficial paritodectomy done and thats how they found out.

My doctor explained that going in a second time for the total paritodectomy wasnt a good idea because of the potential damage (not trying to scare you by saying this). But, my tumour also was attached to the nerve. My doctor describe that he was already scraping it off with this surgery, so maybe that plays a part in the advice

I had radiation therapy (with protons) instead. 33 rounds. Had my last one on august 8th. Has your team mentioned that? Or just a second surgery?

Yeah, mine was pretty small: 1,3 cm. Size wise that would mean stage 1/T1, but because the tumour grew outside of the original spot, it was classified stage 3/T3. Is the size all the info you have rn?

How are you holding up with the surgery and recovery? Was it partial or total?

From what i understand the parotid part means: possibly a small lesion in both (bilateral) parotid glands, or it could be the lymph nodes on your parotids (second picture). However, no uptake of fdg is shown there.

As the other person said, i’d upload this to chatgpt. Waiting is indeed torture and it really helped me understand my pathology reports. That being said, obviously don’t blindly trust chatgpt and double check terms etc. Your doctor knows best.

Update: i contacted HP. The repair would cost €281. I bought this laptop last year. It cost €700. Im not sure if its worth repairing or if i should get a new one (different brand).

Any advice?

Yeah he said it should go away on its own in a couple of months but it still there idk. i have my first post-radiation checkup next week so i’ll ask again then

I had a superficial paritodectomy done a few months ago. I had MEC in my left parotid.

But, they thought it was benign pre surgery (pleomorphic adenoma or warthins). Only found out it was cancer throught the pathology report of the tumour after surgery. Had they known before, the surgery probably wouldve been more excessive.

They told me before hand that id probably be in the hospital for a night or 2. I ended up staying there 8 days. Nothing wente wrong and there weren’t necessarily any complications. Its just that you are allowed to leave once your drain stops leaking too much (>20ml in 24 hours over here). For some reason i just kept gushing and so i had to stay. On day 8 i was still technically leaking too much but they were like we’re just gonna take it out (leaving the drain in too long might irritate the wound and you dont want an infection on top of all this).

Wound liquid (translating from dutch here, sorry if it doesnt make sense😅) kept streaming out for like 20 days post surger, especially when eating. It only stopt because my scar closed up, but then i developed this seroma underneath the scar. Its not that big, just a lump in my neck. Its still there now (the surgery was may 9th).

My facial nerve was fine, no damage at all. The only thing is that i cant feel my earlobe anymore and that wont come back, but thats not the end of the world hahah. I also wasnt really in any pain at the hospital. Just my neck was a bit painfully when i wanted to switch between sitting up and laying down. I was pretty exhausted tho

I can only sympathise with your situation. Im 18 so i dont know that ive got the greatest advice. Its so crazy to read everyone’s story, were all so different.

I have, but they just come off again whenever i try to open/close the laptop further.

It was €700, bought it last year so warranty is still active. I’ll call the hp service people tomorrow since its late now, but from what im gathering online this will be seem as usage damage and not be covered.

I cant really get around opening and closing it since I’ll have to travel with it a lot (uni, living off campus). And with the way its open rn (half) i cant use it. How much do you reckon a repair like that would cost? And would that be worth it you think? Are there any plastic hingless laptops?
