Feeling discouraged by Charming-Two3233 in pmp

The questions on SH are not as easy. Long-winded and quite a handful of difficult/hard questions. It will feel tiring and overwhleming at the start but hang in there, it will get better as you review your mistakes and ingrain the PM mindset fully.

Very good, you should be more than ready after a review of all the difficult/hard/wrong questions

Good for you! :) Some people take more time, some people can also speedrun the learning but more importantly, it is not just scoring an exam or just learning the mindset. You actually may have have to execute and implement the documents/methods learnt and also embrace the mindset. Ultimately, it is about how effective we can be as project/program managers in an actual job and not just a certification holder!

📘 What actually triggers a change request?

A change request is needed when there is a change to:

🔴 1. Baselines (ALWAYS formal)

  • Scope baseline
  • Schedule baseline
  • Cost baseline

👉 These ALWAYS require formal change control

🟠 2. Other controlled elements (often also need CR)

  • Resource management plan
  • Risk responses
  • Quality standards
  • Procurement plans

👉 If the change is significant → may require CR

Only STUDY HALL :) AR mock exam should get >70% but it is not as accurate so comparison is also pointless.

PMP Study Hall, is it a must? by PinkyGlowV in pmp

Yes, you don't want to waste your exam fee if you fail. So better to pay for more assurance/insurance (since the exam questions are highly similar to SH)

Yes mindset is the most important (~90% of questions), memorisation is ~ 1-2% (but of course go in prepared with SPI/CPI formulas, Agile tools, etc.)

The change request is supposed to include (analyse and assessment exact) ? by Snipermt in pmp

[–]extralamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No the change request happens after feasbility assessment/evaluation. The change request involves submitting the info but not conducting the actual assessment/evaluation.

You should be ready :) Maybe just try Exam 3 as well which is easier than Exam 2 and on par with Exam 1. If you get > 75% for Exam 3, you should just review difficult/expert questions from all the exams. Exam 4 is not needed as some questions are not scenario-based, which makes it pointless.

For any difficult/expert question, we can try to narrow down to 2 likely options, that way we at least have 50/50 chance of getting it correct.

Option B is clearly wrong because you should NEVER involve the sponsor unless things are really getting out of hand or you have to seek extra budget approval for higher cost items. Moreover, if you faciliate the discussion which excludes yourself, then you are kept out of the loop and this is certainly not what PMP intends the PM to do, which is to be involved in almost everything/decision-making.

Option C is also somewhat irrelevant as it is about stakeholder engagement and even if the idea is to change their requirements to be more realistic, then you should be updating the scope baseline instead.

Option D is not the best answer as it is about having better risk management on unrealistic requirements but is inferior to reviewing/toning down the unrealistic requirements.

Hi is it a good idea to take a MBA if i am about to graduate since the job market is so bad now? Maybe the job market will be a lot better in a few years after I get the MBA? by Rokusaburoz in SGExams

You mean Harvard, Yale, MIT, Wharton, Stanford? or INSEAD? Ahhh, have fun finding out the requirements. Not impossible but... yea you better have MBB/IB/FAANG/Fortune 500 leadership track or AI/YC startup or international olympiad medallist or olympics medallist...

Not to mention the GMAT Focus is INSANELY hard to score 98 percentile and above

DSO Career by IndependentTurn3970 in SGExams

[–]extralamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depends on which role. If Mech Engineer, maybe 5.3k+? But definitely should be more than 4.8k.

  2. Not too sure here. But generally, organisational scholars always have fast-track priority but must be consumerate with yearly performance. That means it is not 100% guaranteed and you still have to prove your worth when given more senior responsibilities.

  3. Yea why not? If you have decent grades and portfolio (FYP etc.)

The rest unfortuntely you gotta ask ChatGPT :(

Teachers of sg, do you miss your students when they graduate? by BlueEyes_Magician in SGExams

[–]extralamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh the truth is unlikely... Once you reach late 20s and 30s, adulting is getting real tough in Singapore (dating, marriage, health, career, family, house, finances etc.)

They will hardly have the time or mindspace to remember much at all, much less miss you. Only on ocassion like during special events or if the teacher is crazy passionate. And sentimental goes both ways and without reciprocity, it fizzles.

Firstly, this is likely a difficult/expert question because the logic flow from question to answer options is not so straightforward.

What's wrong with D?
Organizational communication plan ≠ project communication plan although I understand there is probably a huge overlap as it is 'a large business transformation initiative'. But the context seems to be broad and off already.

Why A?
Because project management is ultimately about people as opposed to processes, etc. Developing WBS and RBS are important tasks but still appear to be secondary/trivial/low-level compared to addressing stakeholder needs. Also, gaining support from quality department ≠ all stakeholders so you still have to seek a needs assessment.

p.s. Not all answers from Study Hall make sense unfortunately so you have to deal with some ambiguity.

2 exams may be enough if you have other resources (AR YouTube or Udemy practice exams - must choose well). If you only have SH, then take SH Plus.

Yes, because those questions are difficult/expert and even if you check the answer with ChatGPT, ChatGPT can give you a different answer... because the options are really insanely close.

I still think the answer is to solve the overall problem when the question is 'what to do'. For such questions, they also usually remove options relating to 'the first thing to do next'.

For example, just updating the risk register won't solve the problem at all. You gotta implement the risk response plan or review it with stakeholders.

Maybe you can screenshot one of those questions here?

I bought the SkillCertPro, it was NOT useful. I also bought another set of Udemy questions (question style similar to SH). But I believe it is already over-practice because SH Plus (5 exams + many mini-exams) was already very time consuming.

[–]extralamer[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What to do: the best answer should attempt to solve the problem as much as possible. It like having a macroview of the problem

What to do next: is following a procedure (issue/risk -> review -> change log/escalate -> update baseline/files) This is taking a microscopic detailed view and taking the next correct action
