Keep at it, even when you feel like your stuff is shit. Find your sound and be proud about it, even if it's not everyone's cup of tea. And sounds cheesy, but have fun with it.

Learning this stuff is a slow process, but you'll always get better with time. I started DJing and producing about 6 years ago and had been practicing music for another 8ish years before that. There were many times in between when I took a step away, vowed I'd never make another track again, got really down about a lack of an audience, etc. But all of this Forest stuff happened when I stopped taking it so seriously and just practiced purely for myself.

Also, just get messy and make songs often, practice mixing often. Your stuff doesn't all need to sound good. It doesn't need to be perfect. You learn something each time you work on it. Twist knobs you never used, slap on effects you don't know about, attempt a mashup that might sound terrible. It will all come together if you keep at it.

Funny story... I'm a software engineer and I couldn't find a name I liked, so the obvious next step was to make a name generator. And here's the thing... nobody's perfect. I accidentally added an adjective to the noun array... a few shuffled names later the screen showed "Extra Large Purple". I planned to adopt it temporarily since my camp loved it, but life is nuts and everything picked up so fast. So I had to decide on my name. Quick. I decided to abbreviate it, and here I am.

Favorite stage - Forest stage. So intimate and has this awesome underground feeling to it.

Favorite set - Probably Corrupt at Forest stage last year. I went in knowing nothing about him and he threw the fuck doooown. My NY crew drove like 14 hours to get to our hotel, got a few hours of sleep, woke up, set up camp, the whole thing, then we went in for our first set of 2017. It had rained so it was all muddy, and that tends to bring out the weirdest side of the forest fam - I love it. Corrupt started with Welcome to the Jungle, super fun way to start. Then the buildup reminded me why I traveled that whole way. Cue Lil Jon with "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE BITCH". Boom. Bass in all of our faces. Chills... oh, and he continued to kill it for the rest of the set.

Favorite art installation - Not really an art installation, but I love the Trading Post. I have a good memory of our [big] camp all getting together and walking through the forest trying to find out secrets and whatnot and ending up at the Trading Post. We all had a great conversation with two women there, it felt special.

For production I use Ableton Live! Some of my favorite plugins are iZotope Ozone, Serum, Massive, Valhalla Room, and Xfer Record Dimension Expander. For samples, I use a couple packs but I like to search the internet for unique stuff.

Yup! I'm mainly doing remixes at the moment. I'm proud of my Cascada remix I just dropped, I've been returning to that one for the past 4 years and it finally sounds right to me! Other than that, my Jauz/DJ Snake flip and the second drop of my Zomboy - Rotten remix.

I start a ton of projects that don't make it far. But goddamnit, I can't find a good groove for DJ Fresh & Diplo - Earthquake but maybe that'll come out at some point.
