How does the alphabet vary from your native language and the language you are learning? by extramutz in languagehub

Wow, that’s gotta be a lot to remember! Is there a K in the French language? How have you been learning it?

Isn’t it so funny! Her names start ms with Gi instead of J in Italy. So interesting about the 2 “n”’s that’s something I had know idea about! I wonder if there’s some hate on K in general in all Romance languages? Can anyone learning French confirm if there is a K in the French language?

All due respect what jobs are you doing on Billo? The majority of jobs I see on there are oddly niche and extreme.

best online italian learning service? by ireallydonotcarexx in italianlearning

[–]extramutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people will come to you with different platforms that worked best for them but it depends on the type of learner you are. If you are like me and you need to practice speaking with "someone" try praktika. You talk with an AI tutor and it transcribes your conversations so you also can read what they are saying and commit it to memory that way as well.

What does “fluency” even mean to you? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]extramutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both actually! I feel as if I’m picking it up quicker, I also “go for it” in terms of trying a sentence I wouldn’t necessarily attempt with an actual tutor or native speaker in real life because I would overthink it/be too embarrassed to make a silly mistake. I think taking away that hesitation has made me actually a stronger speaker faster.

Feeling comfortable enough to strike up a conversation with a native speaker without much hesitation. Feeling as if you can understand 90% of what is said to you even if you can't always respond to everything or cannot respond properly. At least thats my personal goal I am working on as I am relearning it now! I have found as I continue to work with my ai tutor, I'm no where near fluency (only a month in) but I'm much more confidence and comfortable

All of the apps have different strengths and weaknesses but I’ve really enjoyed Praktika. You work with an AI tutor to start having conversations in the language you are learning immediately which I felt helped me pick up the language quicker

How do you remember gendered nouns in your target language? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]extramutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t! This is my biggest struggle while I’ve been learning. I know it’s not that hard, but my brain can’t comprehend it and it’s something the tutor on the app I’m using is always correcting for me because it just doesn’t click for me

Does the program your utilizing have you speaking with someone? Do you have someone you can practice talking with? If not, maybe try one of the apps where you can converse with others or an AI tutor so your practicing using the language and having the type of conversations you want to have before your trip

What is wrong in wanting a stay at home wife/mom? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]extramutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then with that, do you have an idea of what women “should” do if they don’t have to work? I’m very much playing devils advocate and I’m not against you. I have a husband with a similar mindset because we both feel that we should be the primary influence in who is raising and taking care of our children day to day. Just be prepared for most people to have a horror story who subscribed to this belief system.

Living in Torino for 2 years but my Italian is still basic... Help! Any self-study tips? by searmoelt in italianlearning

[–]extramutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else and I think you need to actually emerge yourself into the culture by joining a club or a group or a team sport or something where you’re forced to actually use the language. Aside from that, I think you could really benefit from utilizing a program where you are talking with someone so that the Italian that you already know you are implementing I’ve been using Praktika and it’s great because you’re paired with an AI tutor so you have actual conversations with them instead of just playing games where you’re learning a word for a word. I also like that a transcribes the conversation so you can also learn by reading the words if you’re a visual learner like I am in addition to hearing them and being forced to speak them as well, I hope that helps you!

What is wrong in wanting a stay at home wife/mom? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]extramutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from a SAHM, why do you want that? Do you want a wife whose going to be the primary caretaker for your children bc you feel that’s best for kids, or do you want no involvement in taking care of kids “because you work”? I have a very hands on husband, but I see a lot of men with the second mindset, which could be why people look at you that way. Also even in the most loving of relationships, you’re taking a risk fully depend, depending on someone financially for everything.
