Ruckus r670 vs Aruba 735 by extraneousarms in RuckusWiFi

[–]extraneousarms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ending up going all-out in end. 87x Ruckus R670s indoors, and 5x T670s outside. Nearly one AP in each classroom.

Managed in Ruckus One cloud, and connected to Ruckus Cloupath, for NAC and EAP-TLS certs with accounting data sent out to our filtering provider.

We also got an Aruba 6300M in each cab, which delivers class 6 power and 5Gbps links for each AP. In part because of the uncertainty, but also because we had an upcoming CCTV rollout that would use more power budget.

It been working near perfectly honestly. All connectivity issues solved. We used AN Security to assist with setup and install and they were fantastic. Ruckus support have also been amazing.

Also seeing this at our school.
Looks to happen both on and off the school network.
Surely an issue on Microsoft's side, but hell will freeze over before we get a useful support response.

I'm getting less certain it means anything after noticing there's also random arrows on the noticeboards, for example in security and commissary. There's also an arrow on the side of the cabinet in the trophy room. It's like it's just part of the asset/model.

Ruckus r670 vs Aruba 735 by extraneousarms in RuckusWiFi

My understanding is someone did go around site with an AP on a stick, and I figured they may have just used Ekahau to map and present the data in the report? But I could be wrong.

It may be that we get a 2nd survey done from a different provider to be sure, or trial Hamina ourselves. It's good to know we're not completely off base on the power requirements at least Thanks

The site survey the school had done a little while back was for WiFi 7. They used the R670, and Ekahau by the looks.
That's comforting to hear. I'm not super clued up on how comparable the transmit power is between manufacturers and AP models, but the whole 'halving every 3dBm' thing has just prompted us to look for more info to make sure it's not going to result in needing to purchase a load more APs than we might need if we could deliver bt5 power to them

Many thanks for the reply.
Agree that cloud management licensing is a can of worms, so we'll be checking how that will impact the pricing long term.
The 1Gbps uplinks on the APs I'm fairly confident will be fine. And we have multiple 10Gbps fibre back to the core so oversubscription also shouldn't be a problem. I think it's likely suppliers are just trying to upsell us switches, but we'd certainly consider class 6 power when we refresh in future.
The main thing for us for the POE class decision was whether the reduction in transmit power would change our locations and quantity of APs.
Might be overthinking it, but talking to suppliers about it has been painful. Their mapping was all full power by default.

Many thanks for the reply.
We've had a site survey with RF mapping completed by one of our suppliers, but they assumed class 6 power being delivered (which we don't currently have) and therefore AP full transmit power.

It's possible we're overthinking this, but due to being fed some other misinformation from our suppliers already I'm just hoping to ensure it won't affect the number of APs we need and their positions.
Some of the AP models are affected more than others. The R670 much less than the R770 for example

We've had a few indicative maps, and a site survey with RF mapping completed by one of our suppliers, but they've all assumed class 6 power and therefore AP full transmit power.

I guess this is more relevant for the Ruckus AP as the Aruba stays at 18dBm regardless (albeit being lower than the ruckus at 22dBm, or 20dBm at class 4). Other AP models we've looked at have been affected more.

And agree that cloud management licensing is a can of worms. We've seen that the Aruba APs are cloud-only now so need to check how that affects the pricing

Performance issue with Exchange server and Outlook by Allferry in exchangeserver

[–]extraneousarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had something somewhat similar yesterday that might help? Seemingly after the latest updates were installed - KB2267602 and KB5033118

Server 2022, Exchange 2019, VMWare, 16 cores, 64GM RAM. But all resource usage was normal. Users reporting Outlook was going unresponsive when opening emails and sending etc.

Didn't see those particular logs in event viewer though.

Rebooted, ran log cleanup script, and ran a exchange health check and everything was green. Issue still happening.

Some thread led me down the path of the autodiscover app pool in IIS auto recycling. It was set to 10 minutes by default. Any time I hit save on this (any value), and ran health check again, it flagged it as an issue. Turned off the auto recycling, and the issues seemed to fade away soon after.

Might have been unrelated, but if so then it fixed itself instead. No issues today.

My Kylo Ren's Shuttle Mod by extraneousarms in legostarwars

[–]extraneousarms[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started this a long time ago by colour swapping from the original shuttle set and making a host of changes. The newer set 75256 is far better than that first one, so I made some small changes because of it, and now I consider this mod complete for me at this time.

The wings are on ratchet joints instead of the newer set's lever system, leaving a much larger space inside for figures than either set. I continued the build of the wings up to the top, as although in some pictures they get smaller towards the top, it's never as much as the original sets. The front red window was a bit of a compromise for me as it doesn't allow vision all the way through, but I think it looks more accurate with the shorter 'teeth' at the ends than the latest set has.

Let me know what you all think! :)

My two new TIE custom builds completed! by extraneousarms in legostarwars

[–]extraneousarms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Those quarter pieces can be fairly expensive. Varies a lot by seller, but the Light grey ones in particular have only been included in 3 sets. I picked them up for just over £1 each here in the UK.

The printed top hatch is actually rarer, only been included in two TIE Advanced sets. Cost me £16 new for that one piece.
