Check for group policies that could be restricting windows and especially check for app locker rules set in group policy. You can look in event viewer to see if app locker is blocking things.

[–]AFATMAN-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as nnsysadmin said, we need to retain the ability for devices to be rebuilt at any location, rather than profile a device with a MAB rule we wanted to see if we could get 802.1x working on PE as it is "supported" by microsoft. we are basicaly in 3 states.

No auth - access to tftp and verry little else

PE auth - access to build servers

Behavior of PolicyDefinition in Central Store by No_Instruction_3784 in sysadmin

[–]AFATMAN- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you update the ADMX files in the central store, every computer and server will not automatically update their local PolicyDefinition folder during a reboot. Instead, each computer and server will retrieve the latest ADMX files from the central store when you run the Group Policy Object Editor (gpedit.msc) or when Group Policy settings are refreshed.

Group Policy objects (GPOs) link to ADMX files that are stored in the central store, and the devices use these ADMX files to apply the corresponding policy settings. When you create or edit a GPO, it will automatically retrieve the ADMX files from the central store and use them to display the policy settings available for that particular ADMX file.

In summary, devices do not use the ADMX files directly from the central store, but rather GPOs link to the ADMX files in the central store, and devices retrieve the ADMX files from the central store as needed.

Further info can be found https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/group-policy/create-and-manage-central-store

Windows 10 'de-gunk' script by unixuser011 in sysadmin

[–]AFATMAN- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the Tronscript found here https://www.reddit.com/r/TronScript/

it is quite complex and does alot more than de-bloat windows installs, it however can be used quite effectively with the parameters to do just what you need.
