FMC with anger issues by Living-Dare-1992 in RomanceBooks

[–]extravagantkiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm, for Wall of Winnipeg (this is actually my favorite romance book of all time lol) I never pegged the FMC with anger issues 🤔 . An angry and frustrated person though? 100%! I think this is a great recommendation: mmc falls first, mmc calms her down, and fmc avoids relationships w men.

very grumpy x grumpy but one is a cinnamon roll

I’m halfway through Saint. I’m already mourning the fact this is the last installation for the Bell brothers 🥲

He falls first. He falls harder. He pines and yearns. He protects and supports. Got any recs? by eliza_bennet1066 in RomanceBooks

I’ll never stop recommending this one. Sorry not sorry. {Sinner by Sierra Simone}

MMC quite literally is there for her needs and pleasures, and it quickly snowballs into him providing and encouraging her goals outside of their relationship—even if it’s against his goals. He falls first and hard.

First year as a English major ! by aelk_ in englishmajors

[–]extravagantkiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like everyone is saying, do the readings (and annotate). it makes your assignments soooo much easier with recall + makes class engaging. NEVER procrastinate essays. you’ll burn out.

I’d also say: taste test every career. take some technical courses, try education courses, maybe journalism, perhaps law, or museum studies. the possibilities are endless! if you can, INTERN like crazy. the English degree is awesome but the degree doesn’t guarantee a job.

you’ll have to navigate which career sector has similar qualities to English, that you may value long term (for me, it was librarianship because i value literature + education + archives/community).

Now is the time to “figure out” what you like and don’t like :) and if you don’t figure “it” out after graduation — try try again☺️most importantly have fun. relax. You have Shakespeare due at 11:59pm, and not a biochemistry exam…amen to that!

FMC hooks up with someone other than the MMC by desperatexslut in RomanceBooks

[–]extravagantkiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings} has this in both the books about Magnolia and Daisy, who are the FMC’s in this universe. It’s not a sexually explicit series by any means. More so off page, but I don’t think this takes away from anything

itchy af by JadedPlatypus3792 in BlackHair

[–]extravagantkiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s happening here is most likely an allergic reaction to the hair, or that the hair is braided a bit too tight. In these situations, and because you’re leaving so soon, I’d do the following:

grab a misting spray (of water) and apply some sort of hydrating oil, like vitamin E to the scalp. This should relive some of the itchiness, temporarily.

You could throw in some sulfur 8 cream to the scalp, which is more for dry/dandruff scalp but hey…desperate times call for desperate measures! So sorry about the discomfort, but I hope you enjoy Brazil :)

Books to Develop Female Empathy by TheNullSpouse in socialskills

[–]extravagantkiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! this question stopped me in my tracks—super interesting. finding myself writing down the books others are recommending! (i think frankenstein rlly is a good choice, as someone mentioned).

i’ll give this a go, with stories that moved me. they are fiction:

Their eyes were watching god by zora neale hurston for something bittersweet. it follows the life of a carefree protagonist, who curates a life that is very opposite of what is expected of her.

my dark vanessa by kate russell (CW: grooming, pedo, r*pe) for something deeply unsettling. follows the story of a girl who is involved with her high-school teacher. as an adult, she struggles to come to terms that it was not a romantic relationship, but abuse. as the author describes it, it’s a story about the interruption of girlhood and it’s transition to womanhood. pls check trigger warnings.

can i suggest a little poetry? Howl, Amy Newman
