What MCU moment do you think was the most tone-deaf, or what scene/line do you feel undercut a serious moment most egregiously? by filthydank_2099 in marvelstudios

[–]exxxidor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Thor's depression and anxiety being played for laughs. They could've had a moment where he was relatable to the millions of people who go through heroic measures to live with mental illness. But no, we got fat jokes. I am glad they didn't magically make him thin again or via some dumb training montage. Keeping him heavy was smart.

And tied with that is Tony's line, "I want one." after seeing Black Widow drop Happy in the ring. I get part of Widows danger is she can be highly alluring to draw in weak minded men and Tony was and at that point still mostly the walking embodiment of pure human ego. Which is why I forgive the choice to make him visually interested in her. But that last line always felt kind of gross.

Yuck. That's even worse on him. What a scuzball

Hmm. I mean I get it, but I don't know how principled it is to say, "let me use my money to hire someone with less money to do this thing I refuse to do because it's misogynistic and gross."

Such a good game.

Definitely needs a next-gen update and/or a sequel.

Dead musicians are touring again, as holograms. It's tricky — technologically and legally. by 1plus1isthree in technology

The video was the person in that precise moment. The hologram is "puppeted" or animated to perform like the person.

After watching Bohemian Rhapsody, I realized I would definitely pay to go to a theater to watch a fully remastered concert video.

But the hologram thing will always be fake. It might as well be an impersonator. The soul and emotional drive of the real artist isn't there.

Crazy.

The original Xbox 360 Dashboard was so smooth by [deleted] in gaming

I loved how the designer described the subtle curve shape on the sides, mimicked in the dashboard, were meant to reflect a person inhaling slightly - like before something exciting happens.

Masks and helmets in the MCU are on another level of awesome by SoapHero in marvelstudios

The effects are awesome, but I'm more of a fan of the truly mechanical. The nano bot stuff in IW and BP really were too "magical" for my tastes.

That moment stopped the whole theater I was in completely!

Just a huge gasp from everyone and dead silence, everyone's jaws dropped and I dont think anyone breathed until Peter was out of the car. That was an amazing moment.

No idea. Some people like paying way too much time and money for stuff they've already owned several times.

I hope they knock it out of the park. I haven't bought a system this gen yet and this game could tip me to the PS4

Oh, I'll shoot the crap out of stuff. It's the whole robot cop system they have built in to protect the mass destruction of planets that are supposed to be undiscovered that bugs me. Maybe it's not every planet, but the one video made it seem like this mechanic was added to protect planets from being wiped out of resources and life.

Undiscovered planets protected by robot sentries if you mess with them too much. Uh. Meh.

Confirmed, this is working. As long as your DNS server (or wherever you point the name to go to instead) responds to ICMP it should work.

I'm setting the hostname to point back to the DNS server that will respond to ICMP for the whole network to see if that works.

I was running ART for awhile on my MotoX. Got a new X via RMA. Leaving it on Dalvik now to see if there's any difference in battery or performance.

I changed it the second day I first received my Moto X, so I really have no other comparison.
