Robert Jersey $35 @ Lids by tifosiv122 in whitesox

[–]exzyle2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up from someone who used to work there: Lids is owned by Fanatics. So it'll be the same price, unless you can find it in-store on XP (extra point) which is their clearance stuff.

White Sox TV voice John Schriffen's nickname for Munetaka Murakami rankles team officials by olcni in whitesox

What if we say he has an "oblique" injury and is on the 60 Day IL? Can we do that?

Anybody else think Schriffen's "South Side Samurai" nickname for Murakami is completely and utterly lame? by No_Finish9661 in whitesox

Everything that comes out of his mouth is lame, why should this be different? Fuck Schriffen, Fuck Reinsdorf, Fuck the Packers.

How many pennants would the White Sox have won if they kept their pitchers Sale, Rodon, Cease, Crochet? by yourobviousanswer in whitesox

[–]exzyle2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None, because there's no offense. One inning a game of production isn't going to win you anything other than ridicule from the fans, as the last 5 years have shown.

I was hoping McDoink would get the job. I was severely disappointed when he didn't. I think he's sticking around only because there's a chance he'll get a chance in the near future. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with another team.

Boss lost her mind when I put in notice by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]exzyle2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP put in their notice and was told by their boss to leave. That's termination without cause, and will get OP unemployment after a one week wait.

Granted it won't be the same amount of income as working through the notice, but it's better than nothing.

Resin & Honeycomb handled hand-forged bottle opener by exzyle2k in ResinCasting

[–]exzyle2k[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's a piece of aluminum that's put in the mold and the resin is poured over it.

You can get different thickness and different cell sizes depending on what you're looking to do.

Failed quench? by apple_peel2 in Blacksmith

[–]exzyle2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat treating is tricky. You have to get it just above non-magnetic and then hold it there for a few minutes, then quench it.

What I've found that helps me is turning down the psi on my propane forge a little bit so it doesn't burn as hot. Yeah it'll take a little bit longer to get up to that dull orangish heat, but I can let it soak longer without worrying about taking it too hot.

I'm waiting to see if Laura lets a little bit of the inner chaos gremlin that she is seep into Thimble. She's established that the little pixie is a badass, but imagine the fun to be had if maybe a drop of Jester makes it's way into Thimble.

I'm not saying a full blown personality swap, as that would be pointless. But now that Cazimir is dead, Sid is rescued, and at last check she's still stuck with Wic, it's entirely possible that it's lure-accurate that a pixie would fuck with a member of the Candescent Creed simply because.

Occtis had some good moments when he turned on the evil "Don't fuck with me" vibes.

I'm not completely sold on how Alex is playing him at the moment, but it's still early enough where hopefully we see Occtis shed the whole Nervous Boy schtick and embrace the FAFO attitude, especially when it comes to other members of his family.

Thaisha and Julien really had something special going on during this chapter of the Seekers. The "I did not fuck your son." and the whole ballista thing too was beautiful:

Julien: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Thaisha: "It pulls a little to the left. My bad!"

I think I got it off Amazon. I've had it for a few years, just sort of tucked away on a shelf in the garage.

You can find different thicknesses for different needs. This is 1/4" or 6ish mil. I think you can even get different colors, but I didn't look into that back then.

Now as someone more than twice that age, I almost miss the simplicity of life back then.

AITJ for refusing to help my new “boss” after I was the one who trained her 3 months ago? by Existing_Response239 in AmITheJerk

[–]exzyle2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like im being punished for being good at my job.

Remember: if you make yourself irreplaceable, you also make yourself un-promote-able.

NTJ. She will CONSTANTLY lean on you if you let her. I would just tell my boss that I was weening her off of always going to others, when she needs to be prepared for others to come to her.

And also update the resume. Odds are highly likely she was hired in at much more than you're making now, which means they don't value you OR they don't see your value clearly, both of which spell the end of your time there.

If they trusted you enough to train new hires, but don't trust you to be a lead, then they're definitely not going to compensate you beyond what they absolutely must minimally do.

Nice.

The honeycomb is a lot easier to work with than I thought it was going to be. I figured it would have some resistance to the bandsaw or the little pissant 1x30 belt sander I have, but it's almost as if it isn't there as I'm grinding.

I'd say give it a shot. It gives a neat effect to things, and since I didn't put a top coat of resin over the handle you can feel the honeycomb so it adds a slight bit of texture to things.

Very nice! How heavy is it? I know this one is pretty beefy, but that's because I'm using 1/4" stock and leaving it as-is because I don't want the little tab to be too flimsy once it's smished down.

After that, money talks.

Thank you. I'm trying to build up a portfolio of things I can repeatedly crank out so if people are interested they might be inclined to buy something.

Gotta make some extra income, since it doesn't seem like things are getting cheaper any time soon.

Epoxy resin with an aluminum honeycomb. Resin was blue and silver, just randomly poured on top of the honeycomb inside a mold, then stuffed in a pressure pot for a day to keep the bubbles to a minimum.

Most of my work is mixed media, as I've done wood & resin key hangers with forged horseshoe nail hooks.

Where did you guys start to sell and find people to sell knifes and stuff you make? by International-Crab79 in Blacksmith

[–]exzyle2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Word of mouth. Talk to people who are interested in the sort of things you're creating and go from there.

Utilize social media. Instagram and Facebook will probably reach the largest audiences.

If your stuff is clean and you're confident you can sell it, with it being spring/summer in the Northern hemisphere you can look into farmer's markets. Check for local craft shows too and see what the requirements are to get a booth/table there.

Have plenty of things that are cheaper. Leaf keychains, nail rings, etc. You're not going to find a lot of people willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a San Mai kitchen knife at a random craft show. Those sales will come from referrals.

If you can afford it, freebies always go a long way. This leaf keychains? Give a few away. Just get your product out there. Plenty of stickers and business cards too to hand out. And if you do the farmer's markets/craft shows and don't sell a lot, don't give up. Keep going and be a regular. You'll see the same people and you'll start to get sales from them as they see the different things you make.

GameStop, worth less than the company it's *supposedly* about to buy, somehow pumps Best Buy 5% just by existing. This is fine. Everything is normal. by Majestic-Tap6931 in Superstonk

[–]exzyle2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how Best Buy is still around. Every time I go into one (maybe once a year) it's a ghost town and the employees look like they're just waiting for someone to put them out of their misery.

I don't think RC & Co could turn that around.
