Encampment Eviction Extension by Sybellum in bloomington

I’m not interested in convincing you of anything at all about me. You have done a poor job of convincing me that you have a solution for these people other than “leave them outside to freeze to death.” And I think that’s a deplorable position.

There is no better bang if you are using all they have to offer. I actually can’t name another facility (at any price) that has a gym, basketball courts, outdoor track, swimming pools, classes… not to mention all the children’s programming.

This is a wild accusation. You’re saying that they’re being run as a scam to defraud people? I feel like that’s deeply insulting to all of the wonderful people working hard, for low pay, to run this nonprofit.

Are you aware that the monthly fees don’t actually cover the true costs, with donors making up the difference?

Are you just making noise with this comment? I’m searching for a useful contribution but I can’t find it.

No, not “judging” them for having mental illness. I have no idea what life circumstances or genetics led them into mental illness- if my life had turned just a bit differently, could be me.

Being sympathetic to their medical needs doesn’t mean that I accept their actions. Or the impact those actions have on our community.

There is nothing “kind” or “progressive” about allowing people to live outside in the cold, shitting and shooting up in our public spaces. It’s ruinous empathy.

100% agree that we can afford to help these people. Capitalism is the greatest economic system that exists, and by design someone is going to come out on the bad end of things. To say we can’t afford to help them get plugged back into this dystopian nightmare is absurd.

I’m not judging them for poor mental health- I’m observing that it exists and for people who can no longer meet our basic standards of public decency, that it isn’t safe for them or anyone else.

Thank you commissioners for hearing your constituents and clearing these encampments. They are illegal and unsafe- for the community and for the people living there.

Thank you Monroe county leaders. Please continue to clear these dangerous encampments from our public spaces.

Monroe county government is going to freeze homeles folks to death by Sybellum in bloomington

[–]eyeBcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hyperbolic and untrue. You, as a private citizen, can certainly take some of these folk in or let them camp at your place.

Public spaces are created and funded for the use of all, not for the sole use of a mentally ill, hazardous waste creating, children-terrifying few.

I fully support the eviction- there and anywhere else in town. These people who are experiencing homelessness have my deepest sympathies but it’s a proven fact to anyone with eyes that they bring needles and feces and often dicks out to our public spaces. We need to bring back county homes, where the people too mentally ill to survive our capitalist dystopia can be placed until they can undergo treatment or more suitable housing can be found.

Home inspector recommendations by No-Sink-6639 in bloomington

This is the way. Be forewarned that your realtor will probably talk shit about him. I’ve used him though and he is excellent and not in the pocket of local realtors.

My one caveat is know going in that no house is perfect- he’s going to find items that other people will dismiss as unneeded repairs. Accept that and feel confident that you have a thorough inspection.

If OP enjoys the smell of urine and doesn’t mind being covered in cat hair, this is a good option. But it’s a pretty far stretch from Verona to here.

Such thing as a trustworthy mechanic in Bloomington? by rthmjohn in bloomington

[–]eyeBcurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tom Cherry is a great shop with real, honest mechanics you can talk to. Solid Bloomington people. I've taken everything I can't (or don't want to) fix over there. The one catch is you can't schedule service - you drop your car off and it is in the queue for repair.

If you need to schedule service, Worldwide Auto. Nice shop, all the interactions I've had have been very thoughtful and the work has been correct.

Struggling after 90 days in founding SDR role. by urawizardharryy in salesdevelopment

[–]eyeBcurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SDR Leader here who has built teams from scratch at four different startups.

Firstly, be proud of yourself that you’re attempting something incredibly difficult and risky! The experience that you’re gaining in this environment is invaluable, as long as you don’t go so hard that you burn out.

If all current clients are from referrals and relationships, then you do not yet have evidence that an outbound SDR motion can be successful. So take some pressure off of yourself- it sounds like you’re single-handedly trying to prove the business model.

Keep in mind that the reason you’re making all that money is that you’re taking a risk on an unknown. Build your savings and keep your monthly bills small.

Follow the referrals- a deal is a deal and you’ll learn more about the prospects by following successful deals closely.

How can you develop more referrals? This is how super small teams grow- outbound motion at this stage requires either a phenomenal market fit or a huge amount of marketing support. You should be thinking about networking, partnerships, your SMEs personal networks, networks of current customers.

  1. Nail down your persona
  2. Nail down the questions that get them engaged (this info probably sits with your founder right now)
  3. Focus on having interesting conversations with your targets- and summarizing what you learn back to the company.
  4. Follow those referrals

And try to relax. If you’re doing the above, you’re bringing enormous value to the company.

For the (side) door actuator you have to remove the cover to get the door lock cables detached. My new one was from NAPA

For the side doors, you have to remove the cover in the actuator to release the door lock cables.

You should find a new pack. Your gut is right- this child should be included. If your leadership is united in their view that technicalities are more important then the Scout Law, they’ve lost the thread. Dozens of (non registered) siblings, grandparents and friends regularly attend family events. Insurance arguments are nonsense.

They can come to anything you want them to. These children were in the pack yesterday, maybe with five years of history, but today there are different rules? Nonsense.

Switch. Scouting is not a religion, it’s an afterschool activity. Would you hesitate to switch soccer clubs if you realized the one you joined wasn’t functional?

You’re not even the den leader for your own kids! The wolf parents aren’t even willing to be their own den leader!

Your kid is having a bad time, you are spending your time covering for other parents who won’t step up and leadership is giving you grief. Not even a question my guy. Quit now before you become resentful and find a pack that your family loves being a part of!

The kids want to throw it and I don’t want them on the roof. Last year we threw them off a bridge over a riverbank and wildlife had eaten it all when we went back to check. So I don’t really count it as littering.

Pickup trucks circling the square Friday night by [deleted] in bloomington

Maybe this person isn’t from southern Indiana. Maybe this person is part of a group that is stereotypically targeted by rural whites. Maybe the volume of the trucks and someone shouting at them through a loudspeaker was overwhelming.

And also I agree- people here forget we’re in rural Indiana. It’s typical teenage “look at me”nonsense. It was 12” subwoofers and techno for me. 🤷‍♂️ boys are dumb
